CHAPTER 28: KNOWLEDGE IS STRENGTH

'Good morning Gloria,' Damien bowed. The old lady was humming a song; a regular habit when she did chores.

'Morning my dear. You look well,' Gloria flipped the pan. She was preparing breakfast at the manor.

'I slept well.' Damien smiled, he wondered what Gloria was cooking. The egg in the pan looked…unusual.

'I'm glad you were able to sleep, being that you shortened some of our nights,' Gloria stretched her stiff neck.

'I need more sleep,' she said turning the fire off.

'You don't need to get up early to cook for me.' Damien said indifferently.

'Your eating schedule is unhealthy, what would you do without me? Also, you love my cooking,' she nodded slightly.

'Speaking of cooking, what exactly is this? It smells good.' Damien raised his right eyebrow in curiosity.

'It's an African omelette, I learned the recipe recently.' She smiled.

'Hmm.'

'Yours is on the dining table.' She stated simply.

'You know it's actually a Nigerian…'Gloria turned to say but realized Damien was gone already.

*Sigh

'I knew he was hungry,' Gloria laughed as she cooked.

'…SO, DURING THE COURSE OF CREATION, DIFFERENT CREATURES FILLED THE WORLD, SOME STRANGE, SOME POWERFUL. ALL WITH DIFFERENT FEATURES, CURSES AND GIFTS; THE GIFT OF WITCHCRAFT WAS OURS.' Meghan read.

She was in the old library again. She had been in here studying whatever she could on the history of the covens; stories, old scrolls, folklore and other forms of enchanting literature. She did so to compensate for the years she had lost, unable to live as a true witch amongst her people. She might be weak now, but a wise soldier need not his sword to attack. Knowledge is strength.

Meghan had spent almost her entire day flipping pages and now she was exhausted. She needed to rest. As she stood up to leave, she sensed powerful energy from door. Who could it be? Brachia?'

'No, she had duties she was bound to today and the energy's too powerful. It couldn't possibly be her or any of the other girls,' Meghan thought. She hadn't yet mastered how to facade or hide her energy so it was a better option to leave. So, she did, but not before taking the book 'Witchcraft from Creation' before leaving.
