Ethan's POV
"Sir, all investors are here. They are waiting for you." Kyle said. I nod at him and head to the meeting room, or rather a conference room. There are about 50 old investors and 30 new investors waiting. I asked Heidi to sit with us to learn about the company and future ventures.
I started my presentation with the introduction of the new project. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am introducing you to our new project. It is called "WSA Technology." It aims to give convenience to all crews and guests in each hotel." I started.
"The first on our list is the robots. It can help the crews assist the guests from checking in and dining in until they check out from the hotel. They have features such as giving directions to the guests, direct record of the guests' information and submitting it to the central data, entertaining the kids, and more." I added. They listened to every word I said and looked interested in the new project.
I passed the following presentation to Kyle from the financial report. He is a good assistant and good at presenting. The investors were overwhelmed with our proposal and immediately agreed to sign the contract. I looked at Heidi and gave her a sign to wait for me at the reception. She nodded at me and left the room.
"Kyle, bring all the contracts to my office," I said and left the room too.
"Heidi, I am going to meet some business owners. You will go with me." I said and entered my room. Kyle followed me to hand over the contracts I needed to sign and left my office.
After 2 hours, I finished signing all contracts and headed out of my office.
"Heidi, let's go," I said, and she followed me to the underground parking.
"Wait. Where are we?" Shoots. I forgot. It's her first time down here in the underground.
"It's my underground parking. No one can enter except me, Kyle, and the other six you don't know." I said. Only Max, Mike, Kyle, and our underlings can use this parking. Even VVIPs can't enter here.
"Ow. Okay. You are so rich. Look at those supercars you have. You have a total of ten." She said while looking around. "Oh my gosh, you even have five motorbikes." She added. Well, she is the only employee I bring here. I am too lazy to stop in front of the hotel to pick her up. I looked at her silently, and she whispered something. I can't hear it, but anyway, we have to go.
"Heidi, faster," I said after I started the car engine. She quickly hopped inside the car, and I could see that she moved carefully not to scratch even the matting.
"Sit comfortably. I won't charge you." I said. She just looked at me, wearing her seatbelt. She looks innocent. I saw her riding his friend's car, but not a sports car.
I drove to one of my businesses, 30 minutes from the hotel. It is a Korean-inspired Restaurant where you can taste authentic Korean delicacies. I agreed with business owners to meet me here. They want to make a franchise of this restaurant.
After the meeting, I let my crews prepare some best-sellers for us while signing the contracts. I looked at Heidi and saw her crying at the side. I waited for her to go back to her seat before asking.
"Any problem," I asked her. She shooked her head and smiled, but I could still see her worried face.
"Let's go." I grabbed her hand and bid goodbye to the business owners. "Sorry guys, we have to go. You can leave the contracts with my manager downstairs. I'll see you then." We walked out of the restaurant and went to my car.
"Since you don't want to tell me, I'll drop you home. I won't leave you in that situation. Tell me your address." She looked at me with her swollen eyes and gave me the address of a hospital. Maybe, there is an emergency in her family. I drove to the hospital and didn't bother to ask her again.
"Thank you." She said and turned her head to look out the window.
Heidi's POV
I received a call from my sister Hadley that my mom had fainted. Luckily, my sister was at home, and bring her to the nearest hospital. I don't want to trouble Ethan with this, but I am worried about my mom.
After 45 minutes, we reached the hospital. "Thank you," I said and ran inside the hospital. I went to the nurse's station and asked for my mom's room.
"Hi. Where is the room of Summer Griffin." I asked. "Please go to room 557." She replied. "Thank you," I answered and went to the said room.
"Hadley. What happened to mom?" I asked my sister after seeing her. "I don't know. I just saw her lying on the floor. I tried to wake her, but she won't." Then, finally, she answered and started crying. I hugged and comforted her.
"I'm scared, Mills. I don't want her to leave us." She said. "Stop crying, Hadley. Everything will be fine." I said while comforting her. "Stay with mom. I'll talk to the doctor." She nodded, and I left her sitting at the bedside.
"Dr. Choi. I want to ask for an update about my mom's sickness. Last time, you said that everything was fine. She only needs to finish three more rounds of chemotherapy, but why did she faint?" I asked my mom's doctor.
"I know, Heidi. A complication occurred in her lungs, and she had to stay here for treatment. Luckily, her cancer didn't spread anymore, and we only need to treat the complication." She answered. I sighed in relief.
"When can we bring her home?" I asked her again. "As long as the complication is treated, and stable vitals. Then, we can discharge her." She replied. I nod at her and bid goodbye.
I headed to the room and saw Hadley taking a nap while holding our mom's hands. I tapped Hadley's shoulder and gave her a blanket.
"I need to go back home, Hadley. I will grab some of mom's and your clothes. Do you want to eat something?" I asked her. She shooked her head and hugged me.
"Okay. I will be here early in the morning. I will bring you breakfast as well." She nodded, and I walked out of the room.
I was waiting for a taxi when I saw Ethan's car coming. He rolled down his window to know if I was going home.
"I'll drop you home. It's late already." Since no taxis were passing by, I hopped onto his car. "Address." He asked. I gave him the address and looked at him.
"I thought you went home after you dropped me," I asked. "No. I was waiting for you. I feel guilty because you were with me when you had an emergency." He answered.
"You don't have to, sir. It's not your fault. No one knows what will happen. It was an emergency." I looked at him after he tapped my shoulder. "I'm sorry to trouble you with my issues." He looked at me with a calm face.
"It's okay. By the way, call me Ethan when no one's around. I won't ask you anymore about what happened. I respect your privacy." He answered me with assurance. I just nodded and smiled at him.
"Anyway, since tomorrow is Sunday, can you go on an overseas business trip with me? We will be there for two days. It's okay if you can't. I understand. "He asked me. I am worried about my mom, but Hadley can take care of her for a while.
"What time are we going to leave?" I replied. "At 9 am. Are you sure to come with me?" He asked, and I nodded at him. "Yes, it's okay. My sister can take care of my mom, and it's only for two days, right?" I asked him, and he nodded.
"Well, see you then. I will be at the hospital tomorrow before we go." I said and went out of the car.
I am going to prepare my things. I don't want to rush tomorrow.
I called Hadley to inform her about the business trip.
"Hadley, I have to leave mom with you for two days. I will be on a business trip tomorrow and back on Monday evening. Tell me everything you need, and I'll hand it to you before I go." I said.
"Only our clothes, hygiene kit, and the food you bring. Thank you, Mills. Good night and have a sweet dream." She said. "Okay, Hadley. Good night and have a sweet dream too." I answered and dropped the call.
I went into her room and grabbed some comfortable clothes. Then I took our mom's clothes from her closet. I put it together in a bag. I took a shower and lay down on the bed. I set my alarm at 4:30 am to prepare breakfast before leaving home.
