Heidi's POV
It's 7 pm, and Ethan is not yet here. I had been waiting for him for 2 hours already. I stood under the tree when it started raining. It is not good timing. I forgot my umbrella.
After 20 minutes, someone grabbed and hugged me. It is Gelo. I thought it was Ethan.
"Let's go, Mills. I don't know who you are waiting for, but we should go. It's raining so hard. You'll catch a cold." He pulled me to his car. He gave me a towel and turned on his car heater.
"Please drop me home, Gelo," I said. "I will. Don't worry." He replied and continued driving. I shouldn't have believed Ethan that he would pick me up.
*ring ring ring*
I checked my phone, and it was Ethan. I cancelled it and put my phone back in my bag.
"Who is calling you?" I looked at him and shooked my head. "Maybe wrong dial," I replied. He shouldn't know. He will force me again to work as a manager in his restaurant if that happens.
We arrived at my home after 30 minutes. I waved my hand and thanked him before heading inside.
I sent Hadley a message informing her that I couldn't come now. I took a shower and went to bed.
I woke up at 6 am and fixed myself. After being rained yesterday, I've got a headache. I prepared breakfast before heading out and visiting my mom.
"Hadley, Mom, I am in a hurry. I'm sorry I couldn't visit last night. This is your breakfast." I said to them before handing it to Hadley. I kissed my mom's forehead and left to go to work.
I arrived at the hotel after 15 minutes and went to the 36th floor. Kyle saw and gave me food from his table. Huh?
"Why are you giving this to me, Kyle?" I asked him. This is not the usual him. I never saw him eat when here.
"Thank you." I accepted and put it on my table. I looked at my watch, and I was 10 minutes early today. I started eating and looked at Ethan's office. I guess he is not yet here.
I saw Kyle talking to his phone. After he hung up, he approached me and asked me to go inside Ethan's office.
I cleaned my table and went inside the office. He stood up after he saw me. "Follow me." He said and led the way.
I saw him bend one of his statues head, and WHAT? The bookshelf moved on its own. There is a room inside his office. He stepped inside the room and waved at me to follow him.
It's a secret room, but why did he let me in here?
"Heidi, This is a secret room. Only Max, Mike, and the other two knew about this room. I put all the important documents here. Since you are my lady assistant, I am giving you access, so I can't let you take the documents when needed." He said, and I only looked at him.
"Never tell Kyle about this room." I nodded at him and left the room. I am still annoyed at him.
Ethan's POV
I went to Heidi's university to pick her up, but rain poured out. I was hoping that she leave and go home.
When I arrived at the university, I saw her standing under the tree at the school entrance. I was about to approach her with an umbrella, but it was too late. Her best friend picked her up and sent her home.
I went to the hotel, thinking about how I could apologize to Heidi. It was all my fault. I should've not threatened to fire her.
I sat on the couch and sent a message to Max. I need you in the secret room.
After 15 minutes, he arrived, and we went inside the secret room.
"Do you know this guy?" I asked him and showed him the picture of Heidi's father.
"How do you know him? He is one of the top hospital owners worldwide." He replied. "He is Heidi's birth father, but she doesn't know. She thought her father died." I explained to Max what happened.
"I am thinking of introducing them to each other here in this room," I said. He glared at me and hit the table.
"Are you insane? You are going to let someone use this room. No, Ethan, you can't. What if they find something against you? Look." He said while pointing at the wall. "You've got guns, knives, and daggers. What if he was using Heidi as an excuse?" He added.
"Think of it, Ethan. I am leaving." He said and walked out of the room. I took out my phone and sent a message to Hunter.
I need some hair or any sample I can use for a DNA test between Heidi and her father.
For now, I will use this secret room as an excuse to apologize to Heidi.
I took a shower from my office toilet and lay on the couch. I checked my phone; maybe I'd got a message from her, but nothing. I kept my phone and fell asleep.
I woke up at 7 am and went out to buy cold medicine, cake, and food for Heidi. I put the food on Kyle's table. I instructed him to give one of the food to Heidi, and the other was his.
I went to my office and sat on my chair while waiting for her. After a few minutes, I heard Heidi at the reception. She didn't ask anything when Kyle gave the food.
I closed my window blinds and put the cake on the table inside the secret room. Then after, I called Kyle while walking out of the room.
"Let her come in after she eats," I said and dropped the call.
I sat on the couch and scrolled on my phone when I heard her footsteps near me. I looked at her and stood up.
"Follow me," I said and led the way. I bent one of the statue's heads, and the secret room slowly showed up.
"Heidi, This is a secret room. Only Max, Mike, and the other two knew about this room. I put all the important documents here. Since you are my lady assistant, I am giving you access, so I can't let you take the documents when needed." I said and looked at her.
"Never tell Kyle about this room." She nodded and turned around, and walked out of the room. I grabbed her hand to stop her.
She's hot. I think she has a fever. I face her, and she's breaking cold sweat.
"I'm sorry, Heidi. I've got an important meeting, so I was late yesterday." He tried to shake off my hand, but I stopped her.
"Stop it. You need to take a rest. You have a fever." I said and lifted her.
I put her down on the couch then I closed the secret room. I gave her water and medicine and let her lie on the couch.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I know I should've not threatened you." I said to her. "I tried to call you, but your phone was off. I don't know if I should leave or stay and wait for you." She said while sobbing.
"I am so sorry. It was too late already when I saw my phone was off. I went there and saw that your friend picked you up." She looked at me and stopped crying.
"Take a rest for now. I bought you a cake. You can have it once you are awake." She nodded at me and fell asleep. I went out to my office and started working on my laptop. I hope she's okay.
