Chapter 49: The Manor

It was a thirty minute drive to the Chisel estate. The car stopped infront of a black gate. There was a platform just beside the driver's door with a glass panel.

Wilfred placed his hand on top and the panel lit up, a scanner scanned his hand and when it did a small compartment opened up on one corner of the platform. A thin rod then emerged, it rose and bent towards the window before stopping.

Wilfred removed his hand and positioned his eyes to the same level as the rod. A red thin ray of light shone over his eye for a second before it retracted back to where it was.

[WELCOME BACK MISTER WILFRED]

A robotic voice was heard as the gate opened. Wilfred drove through and soon after the gates closed. The inside of the estate was beautiful with a marble road that led from the gate and circling around a flowing fountain before finally reaching the front door of a large Manor. Bordering the sides of the road were short green shrubs. Men wearing black suits and jackets patrolled around the place even more than before while they carried concealed side arms underneath their jackets.

Wilfred stopped the car infront of the manor's front door. The manor had a design similar to the castles of the Victorian era even though this comparatively smaller.

Nate walked out and was greeted by a maid who wore a black and white uniform.

"Welcome home young master," the maid said with a smile as she bowed slightly. The maid was a woman in her late thirties with slight wrinkles on her mature face. She had short black hair and although it wasn't anything extraordinary, it added to her charm that came with maturity.

"Miss Camille how many times do I have to tell you that doing that is extremely unnecessary," Nate said in a lazy tone.

Miss Camille simply smiled at him and said "My job requires it master". She reached out to him with her hand

"*sigh* Whatever do what you want," he replied while giving her his bag before proceeding to walk forward. While some may have been arrogant with his family's wealth, Nate was never that way and it warmed the hearts of everyone who worked at the manor. From the maids to the gardeners and even the guards. Everyone was delighted by his presence.

The inside of the manor as you can imagine was lavish in the short hallway that led to the family room there were authentic paintings hang on the walls and there was even a portrait of a man who had curly black hair, black eyes, a serious expression on his face as he posed infront of a building while wearing a black tuxedo. This man was undoubtably handsome and his posture spilled with confidence.

Nate stopped and looked at the portrait with a complicated expression on his face.

"I wonder if I'll ever be as confident as you," he whispered silently to himself before an image of a teenager standing in an alley while facing three other seniors. "Or even as brave as him"

Nate disappeared on the other end of the corridor. Miss Camille watched his lonely back as he disappeared, mixed emotions flashed in her eyes before she too looked at the portrait.

"Miss Camille!" Nate's could be heard from the other end.

"Coming young master!" she quickly rushed to him.

Ten minutes later Nate lied on a water bed on his back as he stared up at his phone. The room was spacious. On one side of the room there was a 8 inch flat screen television with a gaming console beside it and even a four seater mini couch, to the left of the tv there was a small fridge that was filled with soft drinks for his personal consumption.

On the other end of the room there was the door that led to the bathroom which comprised of a large tub and shower with a sink and a toilet. A walk in closet at another end.

[Nate: Hey you guys there?]

He created a group chat where all three of them could talk without any problems.

[Rochelle: yeah we're here]

[Nate: What about Tyler?]

[Rochelle: He's probably busy with his own stuff]

[Nate: What could he be busy with?]

[Rochelle: Beats me man]

In a quiet room a black teenager sat infront of a desk with an open book. This boy was studying diligently when without warning.

Acho! He sneezed. "Damn what was that" Tyler muttered under his breath

[Nate: Well I guess we can just tell him tomorrow when we're at school]

[Rochelle: Tell him what?]

[Nate: That we'll be gaming at my place]

[Rochelle: Really and you just decided to make that decision without listening to our opinions??]

[Nate: Hehehehe…sorry bout that]

[Rochelle: Your hopeless]

Nate just sent laughing emojis before logging out of the chat. He would have played games but he was bored as he had gotten used to the atmosphere of a PC Café which would be filled with other gamers-students from other schools mostly.

*Sigh* Maybe I should take a nap, he thought as his eyes closed.

Meanwhile in another part of the manor a man sat behind a desk with the state of the art holographic computer giving his face a faint glow of blue. The holograpjic computer was still in its testing phase but it would be released to the public soon just like VR capsules. A small framed photo stood facing him on one corner of the desk.

This man had short curly hair and a serious expression on his face. He was wearing a black golf shirt instead of his usual business suit.

This man was Tom Chisel the CEO of Chisel Tech Corp and more importantly, Nate's father. He was looking at a prototype design for self aware nanites that would be of great help to an injected host eradicating all microbes in the body and even strengthening the current immune system of the body. It would be revolutionary medical technology.

A knock was heard.

"Come in," the man replied while putting away the holographic screen with a swipe of his hand.

The door opened and Wilfred came in.

"I apologize for my intrusion," Wilfred said as he walked in.

"Nonsense Wilfred," Tom smiled. "Have you come to report?"

"Yes master," Wilfred replied. "The young master has returned"

"Oh! Were there any problems?"

"No sir but I have noticed that Young Nate's mood has been a little down lately without your permission I approved for his friends to visit. I apologize for my insolence," he said with a deep bow.

"No no no relax you old hoot. This deal is also making me jumpy as you already know but luckily were just need to wait for a couple more days as the government will contact me in a day or two at most," Wilfred replied and just as he said that his phone rang from his pocket.

Looking at the screen Tom smiled. "Perhaps we don't have to wait that long after all"
