I want to protect her

They’ve arrived in front of the house, while Max parked the car Valerie went inside the house. Inside the house was chaotic the servants were all over the place and screaming could be heard from upstairs, when Maranda saw Valerie she pulled her to the corner and said “ young lady why have you come back the madam is extremely angry and young miss Olivia has been throwing a fit since she heard the news of your marriage”.

This made Valerie become even more nervous after hearing that but she came here for something more important so she quickly rush to her room. Luckily everything was in it’s place so she brought out her suitcase and first placed her laptop and important documents then all her clothes where packed on top of them. She was taking her luggage outside when a hand landed on her face, it was her aunt who slapped her before dragging her downstairs.

When they got to the downstairs she tossed Valerie to the floor and said “ how dare you disgrace me like this, how can an ugly bitch like you seduce the prince to marry you” what? Valerie was shocked at what she was hearing, it sounded so stupid and her aunt didn’t even let her explain her side of the story.

Before she could explain what happened she heard someone upstairs shout “ YOU BITCH, YOU DARE COME BACK HERE” Olivia was stomping down the stairs she looked horrible with her eyes red from crying even Valerie was speechless at her state. Once Olivia got to Valerie she said “ what are you doing here, have come to rob it in my face that a whore like you got to marry the prince huh”.

Valerie knew they would get angry but she couldn’t understand why they were this angry what did she even do to deserve anything of this mistreatment, the next words that came out of her aunt’s mouth made her get up in anger. “ Of course I didn’t expect anything from you after all I’ve done for you this is how you repay me, exactly just like your fool of a mother” after does words came out Valerie was enraged to the point she didn’t care anymore.

“ENOUGH” she shouted at her aunt and it caught everyone off guard it was the first time she ever raised her voice but she was far from finished “ how dare you speak of my mother like that, have you forgotten that not only is she my mother but also your sister” her aunt was about to say something but Valerie stopped her saying “ you have said all you had to and now it’s time for you to listen to me, you said you raise me huh? If ordering me around and mistreating me part of being raised then I wish you didn’t”.

“You think I didn’t say anything because I was scared of you? No I wasn’t afraid I tolerated you and all the things you did to me because your my mom’s sister, the same person you insulted is the same person who always told me stories of you and how much she valued you as her sister so how dare you say that about her” at this point Valerie had tears in her eyes as she poured her heart our.

Olivia was about to slap her when a large hand from behind Valerie stopped her and said “ how dare you treat the future wife of the prince this way” it was Max who came to her rescue after hearing loud screaming from outside he came inside to check and he was surprised by what he had witness and heard that he was more angry than Valerie herself.

He held Valerie in his arms and asked if she was okay but she couldn’t answer since she was still crying and for some reason it made him angrier. “ I don’t want to see any of your faces near Valerie in the future and don’t even think about attending the wedding because if do you will be disgraced and throw out” after saying that Max held hands with Valerie and they left the house.

Valerie was wondering to herself why? Why would they after doing all those things to her why are they wearing those expressions, like their sad to see her leave and why are they crying?. All these thoughts were on her mind throughout the journey back to the castle and she cried so much it made her head hurt but the prince didn’t say a word and just let her be.

Once they arrived at the castle Valerie was fast asleep, Max couldn’t bring himself to wake her so he gently carried her back to her room since it was already dark. After putting her to bed he thought to himself that she had really gone through a lot, at first he was found her interesting since he heard a lot of things about her from his family then after seeing her he felt pity for her because of her face and hearing that she lost her parents but now he has this strong feeling like he had to protect her at all costs.

After leaving her room he met his brother Alex coming to his direction, his brother ask “ How is she?” and he replied that she had fallen asleep and that they shouldn’t disturb her, Alex agreed and offered that they talk in Max’s room.

Once they got to his room Alex asked Max to explain what happened when they left, Max told his brother all that he had seen and heard at the Sanders mansion and it made Alex how his head and sigh. Alex then looked up at his brother and say “ since you’ve seen all this with your own eyes, I would like to ask you if you still want to marry Valerie because I don’t want her getting hurt like this again” what he said was taken a little differently by Max.

“ Why would you ask me that, do you think I would leave her after seeing her like that I’m not that heatless, and I already promised to take care of her so why do you keep acting like her boyfriend, or do have feeling for my fiancée?” Alex was a bit taken back by his brothers question but choose not to answer, not that he really had feelings for her but he found it amusing that his brother who never took an interest in women was so defensive of a girl he just met.

His silence to Max meant something different but before he misunderstood further Alex replied to him “ I don’t have romantic feelings for her but I would still do anything to make her happy, that’s why I’m asking you this and for someone who says he already loves someone you sure are defensive of Valerie” Alex said the last part with a smirk on his face.

Max himself didn’t understand his actions, he didn’t know if it was the fact that she was the only woman who didn’t irritate him or that she was the first girl he was able to hold with out being affected but he knew she was someone special to him now.

As Alex got up to leave for his room he warned his brother for the last time “ I know we’re brothers but let me tell you that if you ever hurt her, I will forget that we were ever brothers and make sure you regret being born understand” after saying that he left Max and went to his room.
