Dimitri Delacroix's point of view

I DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS WORSE, the fact that the Lady that Mathis Baudelaire's love with is my sister, or that he never even talked to me about it. After the Baudelaires got up and left, we came right after them. That didn't even give me time to absorb all that had just happened with Isabelle, and how she fell on my lap just like that.

Worst. In front of both her dad and my mom. What a circus.

When we were finally able to get through the crowd surrounding my sister and Mathis, I saw Isabelle right across me, and she seemed disgusted as she stared at that scene. Holding her brother's arm in a tighter grip. My eyes traveled to the middle of the garden where I saw Mathis down in one knee, in front of my sister, holding in his hand a white gold ring full of diamonds.

And that jewel seemed like it was inherited, probably from his mom.
