Chapter 5: Greg's POV

I was the most professional person ever, but today, I didn't know what was wrong with me. I couldn't concentrate during the meeting with Jared Voss, the architect who had to do some renovations in the nightclub. Jared had worked on all my clubs, so he knew what I expected of him.

"I'll make sure next Friday you have the renovation plans." he told me as he concluded the meeting.

"Thanks Jared" I walked him to the door, and went back to sit behind the desk, we had been able to remove the previous owner's belongings. So the office was a little too empty. There was only the desk and the sofa. I had to find someone to take care of the decoration of the room.

I turned on the computer. And consulted the security cameras, the entrance was exceptionally crowded today. Knowing that I was the new owner of the Skylight had aroused people's curiosity. I had a very good feeling that this club was going to be a success even if I was a little hesitant before buying it.

I was a bit lost in my thoughts when I saw her on camera. I zoomed in on the service entrance camera. She stopped for a moment to talk with Bobby, I don't know what Bobby was saying to her but she smiled before entering.

This girl had an effect on me that I could not describe. The attraction I had towards her was a little ridiculous. And this since I had seen her for the first time.

It was when I started considering buying the Skylight club. I had come for a meeting with Mr Keith, it was a Sunday evening before the opening. While Mr Keith was showing me around, I heard the bartenders teasing her about the fact that she was an exaggerating feminist and she defended herself by saying that the fact that she was convinced that she was perfectly capable of doing anything without the help of a man was not an exaggeration. We were in the VIP area, so they couldn't see us. I had been curious to know who was saying that, and that's when I saw her, she was wiping the glasses. I couldn't understand how someone could look so cute in a bartender's outfit. She had tied her brown hair in two braids. I couldn't remember what the bartender next to her had said, but she laughed. She had dimples on her cheeks when she was laughing which made her even more attractive.

That night I thought a lot about her. The first thing I did as soon as the sale of the club was finalized was to request employee records. That's how I came to know her name. I had been far too busy when I got back to New York, that I hadn't thought of her again. But when I saw her by the side of the road yesterday, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had completely lost my way when she sat next to me in the car. When she dozed off, I took the time to admire her beautiful face. I,myself found my behavior ridiculous but I couldn't help it. I wanted her more than I had ever wanted anyone.

When Sean told me her car was in a bad shape, I thought I could give her a hand by taking her to her other job.

When I arrived at her house this morning , I felt my blood boil when it was a man who opened the door. But when he told me it was her roommate, I felt relieved. Then when I went back and rang the bell without an answer, my anger had rose. Maybe the other guy didn't tell her I'd be back for her. Or maybe she just didn't want me to help her.

Any girl would love that kind of attention, but she didn't seem to care.

I stayed all evening in the office, sometimes I took a look at the surveillance cameras. But otherwise I stayed the whole evening immersed in the files and making phone calls.

At 8.p.m I heard a knock on the door. Then my sister came in.

"Surprise !"

"Gina, what are you doing here?!"

"Let's say I liked this place last night, I think I'll come back more often. And I wanted to see you."

"Oh really? why?"

"When are you leaving ?"

"I don't know yet, as soon as we start the renovations maybe."

"I hope that by then you will find time to spend time with your sister, we haven't seen each other too much since I've been living here"

"I know and I promise you I will find some time."

Gina had moved to Miami right after our father died. She was the apple of his eye, and since she didn't have a good relationship with our mother, she couldn't bear to live with her under the same roof.

"So how are you doing?" she asked me in a little too serious tone.

"I'm fine."

"No way with me, I saw you last night when mom announced you were getting married. I'm your sister and I know you very fucking well, and I know you don't love that girl."

"Gina please, Macy's a very nice girl, and..."

"And the fact that her parents are the major shareholders of the company has nothing to do with your marriage." she cut me off in my words.

"Greg, you think I'm stupid or what? I can see that mom was more excited for this wedding than you were. You have to understand that you won't always be able to comply with her every wish. It's your life bro."

"You know from hearing you, it sounds like mom is a bad person but she's only looking out for the good of all of us."

"Oohh please, what she really wants is to make 'the Empire' bigger." she made the quotation marks with her fingers and I smiled.

"I really thank you for worrying about me but I swear I'm good, like I was saying Macy is a good girl, and she loves me, so there is nothing wrong with us getting married."

"Are you kidding me? The question isn't whether she loves you or not, the question is do you love her? Girls who loves you run the streets."

"Stop you know very well what I meant." I glanced at the computer. I had left the surveillance video of the dance floor in full view, it looked like there was a fight. Looking closely I saw a man broke a bottle of beer and pointed it at a bartender, my blood froze when I noticed that the bartender was Miss Wyatt. I got up.

"Oh fuck"

"What is it?" Gina asked me.

"I don't know seems like there's a fight"

"I am coming with you."

I felt the elevator was not going down fast enough. And when it finally opened I couldn't help but run. I saw Miss Wyatt lying on the floor, unconscious, she had a wound on her arm and there was a lot of blood. Another bartender sat next to her.

"What happened ?" I asked rushing towards her.

"She had a little run-in with a drunk customer." replied Fred the manager. "The ambulance is on the way."

"Why did she faint?" I was screaming outright in anger.

"She's hematophobic." replied the bartender next to her.

They had tied a tourniquet with her bow tie around her injured arm but she was still bleeding a lot. So I lifted her off the ground and people let me pass.

"I'm taking her to the hospital, and you..." I addressed Fred. "Call the police to take care of the jerk who did this. Gina come with me."

I left the club Gina behind me, I ran towards the parking lot. And put her in the back seat of my car, Gina got in the back too and put Miss Wyatt's unconscious head on her legs.

I sat behind the wheel. The nearest hospital was 15 minutes from the Skylight, and the traffic was a bit heavy.

Sometimes when I had to stop I looked in the rear view mirror, she looked so vulnerable and she was still so beautiful.
