Chapter 77

Claire was sitting in the cab, she was nervous and scared for him when she found out that Jason had a fight with Jake at a meeting, she couldn't believe that he could fight with someone, as she always found him as someone who was calm and composed.

When she entered the gates inside the mansion, she opened the car door and rushed inside, "What happened to you Jason! I can't believe you would do this, that too, with John, he was your father's best friend!" Grandma Scarlett yelled at him, which was something new for Claire.

She was standing at the entrance and watching them, Grandma Scarlett was shouting at him, while he was looking down in guilt.

"Claire you're here." Austin was surprised to see her, getting everyone's attention, Jason looked at her and turned his face away, which hurt Claire a little.

"Claire, come inside." Grandma told her, complying with her, Claire went towards Austin and stood beside him.

"What happened?" She whispered to Austin, as she didn't wish to ask anyone else, Jason didn't look like he wanted to talk to anyone for now and asking grandma would be a bad idea.

"He had a fight with Jake, in the meeting room, front of everyone." Austin answered, he just hopes that Jake doesn't reveal this to the media, it would be difficult to handle that.

"But who told you this? Austin furrowed his eyebrows, he was sure, none of them, gave her a call, not even Phil, then who gave her this information.

"Isabelle told me, first I didn't believe her, but when she told me to go and see for myself, I came here!" Claire replied.

"Grandma! Do you really think he is someone who is that innocent!" Jason shouted, he didn't want to hear grandma, calling that backstabber his father's friend.

"He was never a true friend, so please just stop calling him dad's friend!" Jason said and walked away from there to his room, all of them were stunned at his outburst.

"I will go and talk to him." Austin went behind him, Claire stood awkwardly with Grandma, who was lost in her thoughts.

Grandma Scarlett sat down on the couch with a heavy sigh, Claire couldn't help but feel bad for her.

"Grandma don't worry, he might have a reason to behave like this." Claire tried to assure her, as she sat down beside grandma.

"I'm sure he has his reasons, but that wasn't good for his image," Grandma looked at her and said, "People already think that he is a heartless person, but I hope this doesn't have a bad impression on his business."

"It won't grandma and he is not heartless, he is just someone who doesn't like to open up to people."

Grandma smiled at her words, "I think you should go and check on him, he might need you."

Claire didn't know how to react to this, grandma thinks that they are in love, while their relation is completely different, she wasn't sure if he would like to see her, but she couldn't even deny grandma.

Claire nodded and got up from there, walking towards his room, after leaving grandma in her bedroom to rest.

She stood nervously outside his bedroom door, gathering her courage, she knocked on the door.

When she didn't hear anyone, she again knocked, but this time she heard someone yelling, which sounded like Austin, hearing his voice, she just opened the door.

But she was shocked to see the scene in front of her, Jason was standing near the window, with a book in his hand ready to beat whoever came near him.

While Austin was standing in front of him, his back towards Claire, ready to dodge his moves, "What are you both doing?"

Austin turned towards her, "Claire! Thank god you came here, please help me, he isn't ready to put ice pack on his swollen jaw."

Jason composed himself and sat down on the bed, "I told you I won't apply that," He said like a stubborn kid.

"Jason just listen to him, it's for your own good." Claire tried to reason with him.

He just shook his head, which made him feel the pain in his jaw, which made him groaned in pain.

"See, I told you just use this, but-" Austin didn't even know how to make him understand.

Claire was getting angry because of his stubbornness, she snatched the ice pack from Austin's hand and walked towards Jason.

She just putted the pack on his jaw, he was shocked to see her behavior, he was about to push it when she threatened him, "Don't even think about it or I will call grandma here!"

Jason just let her put the pack on his jaw, he was surely scared of grandma.

Austin smirked looking at his friend, who always behaved like no one could win against him, but he lost to his girl.

Austin quietly walked out from there, leaving both of them alone.

"Can I ask you something?" Claire asked hesitantly, Jason was sitting quietly, but he shook his head.

"Why did you fight with him?"

"He was the one who punched me first!" Jason snapped at her, "I don't go around beating people."

"I never said you do that!" Claire frowned, her one hand was behind his neck, holding it in his place, while her other hand was applying the pack on his jaw.

"Is it done?" Jason asked, their knees were touching, which made him very uncomfortable sitting so close to her.

He cursed in his head, when he saw what she was wearing today, she was wearing a white shirt and jean shorts, are you okay, your ears are turning pink!" She asked worriedly.

He pushed her hands away and replied, "I'm fine.... thanks for your help." Saying that, he rushed inside the bathroom, trying to keep his distance from her.

Claire was sitting dumbfounded, she didn't understand what just happened, trying to control the sudden bust of anger on him, she put the pack on the side table, and walked out of the room.
