Chapter 82

Jake smirked as he walked towards Jason who was looking angry and confused, "Why are you looking so surprised, is it that shocking?" He questioned, this was the first time they were meeting after the fight they had in the meeting room.

"Yes, it is and why are you even here, just get out!" Jason shouted at him, he really didn't want to talk to him right now. "Come on Jason, I'm here to congratulate you." Jake knew exactly what he was doing, and he was very pleased by it.

"Congratulate me? For what, as long as I remember, people don't celebrate their enemies' victories." Jason taunted him, Jake lost his smirk, when he realized Jason was talking about the incident that happened in the meeting.

"Well, I'm not here to congratulate you for your victory, but for someone else's." Jake was just trying to create confusion for him, "Will you be clear, and if you are here just to piss me off, then leave." Jason was losing his patience every second.

"Wait don't tell me, you still don't know," Jake asked surprise was evident on his face, "She didn't tell you?"

Jason understood he was talking about Claire, "God, and I thought you will be the one to know everything first." He laughed, feeling happy.

"What are you trying to say?" Jason was now curious about what Jake knew but he did not, "Well, how can I tell you that so easily when she did not tell you?"

Jason banged his hand on the desk, making Phil flinch in fear, "Will you tell me or not?"

Jake smirked and replied, "What if I don't tell you, then what?"

"What makes you think I won't go and ask her, do you think you're the only one who can tell me whatever Claire is hiding from me!" Jason raised his eyebrows, questioning him.

Jake didn't want him to go and talk to Claire otherwise she will know that he was the one who went to Jason and told him everything.

"Okay, okay, I will tell you, but you have to promise that you won't let her know about it." Jake just wanted to create the impression in Jason's mind that Claire trusted him more than Jason.

"Fine, tell me,"

"So, Claire got a job at the cafe where I work..."Jake told him everything, Claire giving a test to celebrating getting her first job with him, Jason was listening to him patiently, but his mind was getting fogged by sadness.

He realized that this was the news she wanted to share with someone, "I just feel bad for you that she didn't even let you know about this." Jake said, but Jason could see the fake sympathy in his eyes.

"Now that you have told me about my girlfriend's achievement, I think you should leave," Jason smiled at him, he knew what Jake was trying to do.

Jake was stunned that Jason was actually smiling at him without looking angry at all, he didn't have anything else to say, so he just turned around and left.

"You know he was just trying to create misunderstandings between you two, don't let him get to your relation." Phil said, he was listening to them silently, and he could clearly see that Jake was just trying to create trouble in their relation.

"Don't worry Phil, he thinks he is the smartest and that's his biggest mistake," Jason said, sitting back in his chair, but whatever Jake said, one thing was clear that Claire didn't trust him at all.

"She might have her own reasons, maybe that's why she didn't tell you anything." Phil tried to assure him, but his words made him chuckle bitterly, "She just thinks that I'm a controlling guy and I won't let her do the job if I found out."

"Well, she isn't completely wrong you are a bit controlling,"

Jason glared at him, which made him shut his mouth, but he wanted to congratulate her, so he decided to surprise her, "Listen Phil, I want you to do something for me."

He told everything to Phil, and he assured him that it will be done within thirty minutes.

Meanwhile, Jason called Austin who was busy somewhere, "Didn't I ask you not to disturb me?" He was irritated, "Austin, I want you to get Claire to the company in forty minutes."

"Why, what's the occasion, her birthday, a date?" Austin was confused, "Just get her anyhow, I'm counting on you." Jason pleaded.

Austin didn't have any other option, so he left from the bar taking his car, he went straight to Claire's apartment.

When he reached there, he was debating should he directly go there or call her, he decided to take the third option, he texted Jasmine to come out, as he was waiting for her.

He waited for her text, but she didn't text back, so this time he called her, and she picked up, "What, why are disturbing me?"

"I just need your help," Austin tried to sound as pitiful as he could, he knew getting Claire to the company won't be easy, "For what?" Jasmine sounded worried.

Austin smiled, he was glad that his acting was useful, "Can you and Claire come out for a minute?"

"What are you doing outside, it's seven in the evening?" Jasmine asked, not getting what was he up to.

"You are just wasting time please come fast." Saying that he hung up waiting for them, after five minutes he saw them coming out, looking extremely worried, "What happened? Why did you call us?" Jasmine asked.

Austin glanced at her, she was wearing a blue jean and a white crop-top and her hair were tied in a ponytail, he could tell, she just got back at home.

"What happened?" Claire's voice gets him out of his thoughts, "Claire there is an emergency at the company, Jason needs your help." Austin tried to sound as worried as he could trying to control his laugh.

"Emergency!" Claire was shocked, "Please get in the car, we don't have much time!" Austin said, opening the car door for them, both the girls got in the car without another word.

While Austin mentally patted himself on the back, ''Let's see what Jason is up to!' He wonders.
