Chapter 2-New friend

She held a school map she'd been given by the school security guard and she tried using it to locate her dormitory. Inside the building, she climbed the flight of stairs that led to a hallway and made to make a turn before she accidentally bumped into someone. She started to apologise as she helped the person pick up the fallen books.
"oh... I'm really sorry, I'll get them for you"
"it's not your fault, I should have seen you coming",the girl croached down to help her. Natalie stood up to hand over the books to the girl she'd crashed into.
"I'm Kira James and you're_" the redhead girl said extending her free hand to Natalie
" I'm Natalie Hallows",she said as she took her hand for a light shake. She started to apologise all over again when Kira stopped her.
"You really don't have to be... I'm guessing you're new" she adjusted her glasses to fit her perfectly oval shaped face.
" Yeah, and I'm... kinda having problems locating any dorm. Would you mind helping me out? ", Natalie asked expectantly
" oh, sure, I wouldn't mind at all and you're just in luck. We finished classes already",she said with a smile.
" thanks".She was relieved to have gotten some help and fast.
" Do you need help with those", Kira asked looking at the luggages. She helped her with one and then led her out of the passageway. On their way to the dormitory, Natalie tried to take notice of the people around her. The school was really big, not bad at all, she thought. At a point she felt slightly uneasy.
"Um... Kira, right?" Natalie called out in a small voice first,to make sure she got the name right. " Is it just me, I feel like lots of eyes are on us"
"What are you talking about? "Kira asked, quite perplexed
"You know like_stares, we're getting much attention than required"
" Oh, its nothing. You see, nothing bypasses the students of Mourline. Not even a new student with hair your shade"
"My... hair? ", she tilted her head to look at Kira
" Yeah, I don't think I've seen any hair the shade of platinum. It's striking", she replied thoughtfully and then offered Natalie a smile "oh... ", she didn't say anything afterwards and she tried to ignore the stares . Her hair had always been a wonder to her too. Not necessarily because of the colour, orr maybe because of it too, but neither her mom nor dad had the same color as she but her mom had told her once that she'd gotten it from her grandmother whom she'd never seen. They got to the place and Natalie found out that the boys dorm was also in the same vicinity, almost a stone throw from theirs. The two buildings were bounded by a huge black iron gate. Kira's room much to her delight, was directly opposite hers which would make it easier for her to seek assistance whenever she was in need of one.

Kira helped her with the dusting and cleanings then left her to unpack.
Finally settling down, Natalie took out her phone and debated on calling her father. At the end she put it back as she still nursed grudges against him. Soon, she drifted off to a deep sleep.

Davis Gallagher stood watching as his brother fed his boredom aiming knives at a tree. The woods was extremely quiet with just the whooshing sound of his brothers knives cutting through the air and effortlessly hitting it's target. He had come in search of him at the demands of their strict chemistry lecturer who had noticed Derek's absence in both the previous and current class. He knew Derek was "bored" and "uninterested" in the class,not like he was ever interested in anything and he likewise knew the spot to find him just like how he was aware his brother was never going to heed to the instruction of going back. As far as he knew, his twin brother was the last person on earth to follow rules other than his so he thought it right to be the sane one between them.
"Could you at least try going back with me, you could leave after an hour and I don't get to be queried" Davies said, annoyance laced in his voice. He was however met with an expected silence and the look of boredom and laziness that never failed to get him exasperated. And then he spoke up again, this time, of a topic that'll certainly get him a bit of attention."Two dead bodies were found yesterday" and just like he thought, Derek halted his movements and then uttered a word ,"Scavengers" .
