"His condition isn't bad, though the bruises might take sometime to heal. He'll be fine",he assured the girls. They both nodded and left the clinic at once. It was dark already and they didn't have any hopes of catching up for dinner.
" I really hope he'll be fine ", Natalie sighed as they headed towards the dorm
" The professor says he'll be alright. No need to worry so much",Kira reassured," professor Emmett is in charge of the clinic and though he looks stern, he's really nice"
" Oh... " Natalie had guessed the man was in charge of the clinic and she turned out right.
"Isn't it a pity that a doctor like him works in a university. I think he'll have more prospects outside here"
" I... bet he would ",Natalie shrugged," do students often get into fights here?. Judging from the professors looks, it doesn't seem to be the first time "
" It really isn't. It's normal for people to get into fights. It's against school rules so they're punished or suspended by the school authorities when caught ",Kira explained gaining a light nod from Natalie.
" it's much worse during the school lacrosse games. The fights are so bad the clinic would be filled with people with broken bones or... bulging foreheads. We paramedics have to stay all night in the clinic tending to them ",Kira pouted as though she had been wronged. Natalie knew all these as she had spent sometime in Mourline. The school usually hosted an end of the year games before Christmas break. Lacrosse was very popular and many looked forward to it because the leader of one of the teams was Derek Gallagher. The senior had a huge group of fan girls on campus. Natalie learned from Kira that so many girls confessed to him on a daily basis but judging from his attitude Natalie knew what the outcome would be. Tons of heartbreak. The group of four were known as an "impenetrable group of rare beauties".A name which Natalie found quite... ridiculously amusing, though she couldn't deny the fact that it was the truth.
The times she had run into the senior, he obviously didn't seem to have a temper not to mention that dangerous aura and overbearing presence he possessed. But she couldn't deny that all four were "rare beauties" as Kira said. The Gallagher twins were undeniably a handsome pair. Sharp features and a perfect physique any girl would drool over. She suddenly remembered those pair of midnight black eyes and immediately shook her head to get rid of the image. The Graham guy had the look of a handsome playboy and while Janice rarely smiled, her facial appeal wasn't to be neglected. Maybe that was the real reason they became popular, coupled with their rumoured background. It was too bad that one of them had a notorious reputation.
They reached their dorm and Natalie invited Kira in. Since they didn't have dinner, they settled for a bowl of cereal and later, a bag of chips. Kira bade Natalie goodnight and retired for the night. After tossing and turning for a while Natalie slept off too.

In the boys dorm...
Derek laid on his back staring blankly at the ceiling. Like most of the other nights, he couldn't sleep. His insomnia wasn't something new, the reason he slept in the day most of the time. After a few minutes of staring, he stood up and went to the fridge. On opening it, he realized it was stark empty.
Davies...
He would have to put up a restriction sigh to stop him from frequently visiting his room. He shut the fridge and headed for his bed when he heard a rasp knock on the door. He frowned slightly and went to open it. Derek's frown deepened when he saw the person on the other side of the door.
"what are you doing here?" he asked grumpily
"couldn't sleep?", Conner let himself in, ignoring his question. He had a bunch of roses in his hands, "these are for you",he outstretched his hands that had the roses.
"You can keep them for yourself or throw them in the trashcan ", Derek said in a low voice as he made his way back into the room. Conner sighed. Of course, he wasn't here to deliver flowers but some girl had intercepted him on his way here and pleaded with him to deliver them to Derek. He was used to this occurrence though since Derek was hard to approach. Sadly, Derek never accepted any of the gifts given to him. He wondered how the girl would feel if she knew that her flowers were laying miserably in the trashcan. Conner walked into the room and took off his coat, tossing it on the couch. He went straight to the fridge
"Seriously? bro... it's empty. I stocked it with soda not too long ago"
"did anyone say soda?" Davies barged in unannounced.
uhh...
"you didn't lock your door. Here",he tossed Conner a refreshment can and another to Derek.
Derek glared at Conner before setting his gaze back on his brother. "Odette showed me the graphics and results"
" And here I was thinking you've gotten yourself into some trouble ",Davies emptied the can in his hands and tossed it away, "it's hard to believe that you could go on a month without causing Odette a headache ",he chuckled.
" it'll be better if he finds himself a girlfriend. I'm getting sick of being blocked in the hallways and stuffed with cards and flowers ", Conner chipped in. Truth be told, he was beginning to get tired of these. Derek had such a weird temper that made many wary of him. At the same time, half of the girls in Mourline had a crush on him. Derek never showed interest which made him start to believe he would remain single for the rest of his life. He even thought the girls fawning over him were blind. As demons, they weren't allowed to get attached unless they found their mate so for Conner there was obviously no need to keep the girls which was also one the reason why no girl ever dined with them, amongst others.
His mind went back to the past incidence in the lunchroom. The girls, one possessed an exceptionally striking platinum coloured hair that stood out anywhere while the other was a red head. He had felt a bit sorry when the former had been humiliated by his girlfriend but he never expected Davies to do something out of the ordinary. Even he was taken aback. It was literally the first time they dined with other students. Their juniors at that.
"A mordants possible appearance isn't a good sign",Davies muttered, "the vice principal is infuriated"
