Chapter 12-Conflict

Below it was the date "1798".So old,she thought. There was also an inscription written in... Greek?. She wasn't sure but it didn't matter anyways. She obviously didn't like the language that much. After sometime, she took out her wrist watch and checked the time. It was almost dinner time. The food they were offered here could be considered top notch. So good she ate so much most of the time. She felt she would grow fat if she continued to overeat.

Night was fast descending so she turned to head back to the dorm. Going back to the dormitory required passing behind the school block. She walked past a couple of halls but stopped when she heard voices she couldn't decipher. She became curious, but as she drew nearer to the place the murmurs ceased. Seems like the owners of voice left already. Natalie turned to use an easier route but then halted on a second thought when she heard someone grunt deeply as though in pain. She headed back to the same location, this time treading with caution. She was completely put off at what she saw.

"Oh my..." Natalie trailed off, her eyes widening in bewilderment. A guy was sprawled on the dusty ground with cuts on his body. He was clutching to his stomach and didn't seem to notice her come closer.

"what happened to you?" she asked almost to herself. At that moment he seemed to have realized there was another person beside him, a girl with silver hair was staring at him in shock. He struggled to sit and Natalie saw his lips open to say something but nothing came out. He was definitely in pain.

"wait!, I'll help you to the clinic to get your wounds treated",she said as helped him stand, placing his hand on her shoulders to support him. He didn't object when Natalie helped him up.

"Ray..." he muttered in pain. Every word he said felt like his bones were going to shatter. Natalie took what he said for his name. She was worried he'd pass out any moment if they didn't make it to the clinic that instant. They were far from the dorm but not the clinic. Natalie was totally unaware of the two pair of eyes staring intently as their silhouettes faded into the dark.

Caine came out of the shadows, his eyes holding an evil glint in them. He took out a stick of cigarette and placed it in his mouth, lightning it up with a lighter. He puffed out chains of smoke and watched it dissipate into thin air.

"you let her take him",a young man joined Caine. The frown on his face obviously showing his distaste.

"What's the point", Caine said "it's not like she saw us".His handsome face lit up with a smile. He had a scar below his eyes making him look sinister.

" it'll be troublesome if he reports to the authorities ".Even if they were privileged students, fighting and bullying was still against the rules and could land them into being punished by the head of the disciplinary team. Worst scenario, they could be suspended by the principal. Odette was someone who cared much about adhering to the rules. He would definitely punish the two parties involved.

"Ray isn't stupid. We don't have to worry",he chuckled lightly before his expression turned dark. He was unperturbed, after all, all he did was teach the commoner his place. He was confident he will recover. People like him were nothing. However he still had his one huge problem. Derek.

The guy had turned into a huge pain on his ass. They had always opposed each other. Thinking of the many times Derek humiliated him, he couldn't help but boil in fury. Even the scare under his eyes was because of Derek. They had gotten into a fight not too long ago and he had not only given him a scare, he'd also landed them into the counselors office. Maybe their hatred for each other was because they weren't of the same kind but it sure as hell wasn't something that could be sorted out through counseling sessions. He would let it be for the moment, but he was sure to get his pound of flesh. Certainly he would.

Getting to the clinic took like... forever. They had swayed so much on the way that it was a miracle they managed to get here. As soon as they stepped in, Natalie spotted Kira and thought they were really lucky. At least she wouldn't have to explain so much. Immediately Kira saw them, the smile on her lips quickly faded.

She rushed to Natalie and helped her bring the patient to an empty bed. Natalie sighed softly.

"what happened? did he get into a fight with someone?" Kira asked as she examined the guy who had already fainted. Luckily,he wasn't hurt too much. Slight bruises and a dislocated arm and... some other dislocated bones . Okay, he did sustain a substantial amount of injuries.

"how did you find him" Kira asked again, eyes wide. Natalie quickly told her where she found him. After Natalie recounted what happened, Kira looked at her with a bright smile. Sometimes, she really wished her friends was in the medics field like her. She had all the qualities to become a good paramedic, just she was.

Not long after, a slightly aged man wearing a white coat just like the one Kira wore came into the place. Natalie had noticed that Kira was the only person here so she thought that this must be the professor in charge of the clinic. Both girls muttered a greeting to him at which he nodded to, his gaze falling on the patient.

"got into a fight?", he asked rhetorically. Natalie observed him. He wore glasses similar to the ones Kira wore and had hair the colour of peppermint.

"his injuries seem superficial, except for the dislocated bones". He looked up at them and smiled gently, "why don't you both go back to the dorm, it's past dinner time already. I'll take care of the rest".
