Chapter 1: First day

Daichi P.O.V

After I choose my appearance and my name everything went black once more. Weirdly impressive since it was far darker than the void I was in and suddenly I heard... chirping? I opened my eyes briefly and winced as it was very bright after my eyes adjusted to the light I looked around me seeing bunk beds around me with children sleeping in them before flashbacking to when I had to stay in my cousin's house where we had a sleepover in his bunk bed... until it collapsed on itself when I was jumping on the top bunk. I silently laughed and got out of bed while tiptoeing passing by a large kitchen, a big cabinet, and a door. The door luckily was open so I pushed it and an overwhelming light hit my eyes once more until they slowly began to adapt to it until I saw a street filled with villagers minding their day, the sun in the direction I was facing, the fresh air... it was beautiful, it gave me Breath of the wild vibes and the music when Link went out of the shrine of resurrection the first time hit my ears instinctively and the music continued its unique melody that my mind made on the fly as I walked on the street, seen other children play, smelling the delicious food, and even looked on my reflection on the water along with the reflection of my gray shirt and dark blue pants... I kinda looked cute I remarked while imagining my mom giving me a big bear hug if she saw me like this. Then I saw a young 5-year-old Naruto walking towards old man Teuchi's ramen house... a good thing that smartass isn't here to bonk my head... missed him though. I began to shake my head and remembered my plan in case this were to happen, Step 1: Befriend the human innocence and purity incarnate... demon? I was still working on that name. So I jogged towards the ramen stand while smelling the heavenly- Why hello there! Seems you like the smell of the food! Teuchi's voice cut me off my thoughts as I looked to see his smiling face while noticing my saliva on the floor which I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly. Hah! it's okay my boy what can I get ya? Wait... I can understand Japanese?!! Ah, screw it! if it works! then it works! But sir I don't have any money I said as I emptied my pockets. Nonsense! First timers one meal free of charge! Teuchi said as wiped the sweat off his brow, likely due to weather or the heat coming from the cooking equipment. We'll I would like... then I looked and saw Naruto munching away happily not noticing me with the man's face beginning to tense up... I will take what he is having looks good I said with his face relaxing and smiling at me One Naruto Special coming right up! he shouted before going inside the kitchen to get to work. Then I looked at Naruto finally finishing his bowl with a satisfied grin and then turning to me. Woah! Who are you Dattebayo? ( if it's wrong I don't know Japanese for the life of me) Naruto said with a smile which I returned him with my own. Daichi, Daichi Takibi! What's your pal? I responded noticing that his smile grew even bigger. Naruto Uzumaki Future Hokage Dattebayo! With Teuchi appearing a few seconds later with a bowl of ramen, Here is the food kid hope you enjoy it! As we ate and talked to each other we told our stories, made some jokes so on and so forth but sometime later I got the nagging feeling that someone was watching me... as if from afar I paid it no mind however as it was probably either Hiruzen spying on Naruto or Danzo's Root Members whatever came first that is. There you are! a loud voice boomed we both looked behind and saw the caretaker of the orphanage and she did not look happy! I have been looking for you all day! she screamed when she saw Naruto she got even angrier. So you did this! She declared while pointing at Naruto. Well I did saw him while exploring so yes he did lead me here and I never regretted it. I said as I remembered the ramen that the old man whipped up it was so good! Boy! do you have any idea who you're sitting with?!!! She asked and I smiled. An orphan who is just like me is one of the only people I like that shouts and is a nice person in general. I asked she shook her head aggressively. No!!! that boy is a demon!!! she shouted and I looked at Naruto and back at the caretaker... Did a book about demons hit your head or something? I asked jokingly as she and probably nearly all the townsfolk in the village probably act like those people in the aristocracy period when "witches" are involved, good thing Naruto did not get burnt alive in canon. NOOO!!! Did you have a nightmare where something that looked like Naruto attacked you? NOOO- I mean yes- but- oh forget it! the caretaker threw her hands in defeat and slumped but got up a few seconds later. But he is still a demon! she said to me looking bored and decided to end this conversation. Exactly what demon are we talking about here? You do realize there are a lot of them? She was about to say something but said nothing as she probably knew about the rule that the 3rd Hokage imposed and she looked even more frustrated likely the satisfied look on my face must have made her realize I knew it as well and used it to my advantage. you know THE demon! If Naruto is a demon then he would be the demon of innocence I mean look at him! do you think he would hurt a fly? I asked and he began to scratch his head at the remark. YES! HE IS A DEMON IN DISGUISE! Do you think that a demon would go far as to shapeshift into someone else let alone act and look like a saint among saints? I asked with Naruto getting confused with my vocabulary I'm gonna have to teach him that another time. And at this point, the caretaker looked defeated and probably ran out of ideas and patience until she got one judging by her evil smile. Okay, brat if that's how you want to so be it I won't mind but! I'm giving you one last chance- I would take the kid's side in a heartbeat no thank you I interrupted a tic mark visible on her forehead. As I was saying... either come to me right now and you can go back to the orphanage with open arms or! you stay with the demon brat and you will be banned from the orphanage as well as being considered his servant! she said Oh no! How can I live?! maybe I should- I can live on my thank you! I said sarcastically to her her eyes widened in shock probably she did this all the time and might be the first time that it did not work. But how can you- ma'am I read enough books and did a lot of outside-of-the-box thinking to know how to survive I said as a coverup just in case questions arise on my unexplained knowledge. But what about water? all I need is water and a survival technique I learned that I will not say in case you try anything Food? I can go hunting by the looks of it you're not fit for hunting yourself let alone hire someone to do it. Besides, I can go to THAT place where I can some food and water without no one bothering well the animals there would be but at least they don't talk constantly. She must have known what I meant by "that" place as her eyes widened. You... you're insane! says the one who thinks it's a good idea to attack a child. Grrr! that demon child corrupted you! I did not see the kid do anything nor do I see some scary aura in him keep trying to convince me. And with that few words, she threw her hands and walked away probably giving up trying to convince me. Well, that was a victory... you got someplace to live Naruto I might need to stay there for a while. I asked while scratching my head and he smiled. Sure! I have an apartment nearby! and with that Naruto took me by the hand and lead me to his apartment Woah! slow down! I can't keep up!

Hiruzen P.O.V

As I saw Naruto dragging his new friend to his home I smiled. You finally made a friend Naruto... and a good one at that I said as I looked at the Portrait of Minato with a smile before my assistant suddenly placed a stack of paperwork which startled me before leaving immediately then my happiness was replaced with anger. Damn you Minato! leave me with this paperwork! Can't enjoy my retirement! I grumbled as I pushed aside my crystal ball and began to fight the most powerful enemy in the shinobi world, God damn paperwork.
