The witch sisters felt it was time to go back home, so with the new Juan, they left for Kome; leaving Bridget behind who vowed to stay back and watch over them.
It's been two nights since then, and the little boy with his dead father's corpse was abandoned by the roadside and no helper seemed to have passed by because everyone who came by, seemed to think they are serial killers too.
The people of Kome had been living in fear due to the vampire spread as anyone caught without defence would be made a meal so, the village went on lockdown as nobody seem to travel until after a few days.
Juan-Jake and Emma arrived at Kome as Emma was in disguise in order not to be noticed by anyone; on their way to the village entrance, they met the little boy, shivering in cold.
{Juan} what's your name?
But there was no response from the boy.
{Juan} why are you here?
The boy pointed at his dead father's corpse which has already started decaying.
{Juan} who did this to him?
Yet, there was no reply from the boy.
{Emma} he must have been under a great shock, let's go.
{Juan} we would take him with us.
{Emma} no, we can't. We are not even sure of how these people would treat us, leave him here, we will come back for him.
{Juan} no sister, let's take him, this might be his last chance. The person who did this might return to complete it.
Without further argument, Emma agreed with her sister and took the boy with them: while leaving, Juan turned back and cremated the corpse with a spell. Finally, they entered kome, people who saw Juan-Jake began to flee in fear; as they felt they had seen a ghost; but they kept moving until they got home to Jake's original house.
{Juan-Jake} I wonder how I'm going to fit into this man's taste.
{Emma} you just have to cope, nothing else. But then, I wonder how we could be ourselves with this boy here with us.
{Juan} it's okay, we would sort it out.
The two sisters began to tidy the house as people gathered at the compound to know for themselves if the rumour they are hearing is true.
They began to call him, Juan-Jake looked out the window and saw people waiting outside for them, so she went to meet them.
People were astonished including Alvaro who was the people's mouthpiece. Juan on seeing Alvaro developed a strong bitterness but she had to maintain her cooked up story of being saved after she woke up from almost being consumed by a wild animal.
Everyone thanked their gods and welcomed Jake home. Alvaro promised to enlighten him on what has been going on before his demise.
"Wait, I was dead?"... {he asked Alvaro}
Don't worry, I'll come to visit you, then I'll tell you everything... {Alvaro pat his shoulder and left}
Juan looked at him and she gradually frowned.
{Emma} don't pay evil with evil, they will be paid with their own coin; it's not his time yet {she comforted her with a hug}
Juan dropped a few tears, "you're right sister" {she smiled}
The pathway into evil begins as small acts of cold-heartedness, yet as with any journey, those small steps become more significant as they add up. So, wherever you are on that pathway between love and indifference, start making choices for love while you still have enough soul to redeem but in this case, I doubt if Alvaro will find redemption from Juan. let's rewind time a little in the case of the Salvatore's household.
Jugan was so devastated by how his only son, Serkan had turned into a monster, he decided to give up on him as he ordered the villagers to defend themselves if they come across any bloodsucking demon. Jugan decided to dedicate himself to finding out what could kill vampires. meanwhile, the guard who saved Susan from being bitten by Serkan has been so unwell since then; he tried to fight the infection at all cost but the demon blood took over his system and he turned, but it was unaware to others.
It was a windy afternoon, and the people of Kome are trying to get used to the rule of vampirism in their village. the soft breezes seemed finer than silk, smoother than water; In the gales it sings through the trees, sending loose leaves on every covered roof, and allowing the warmth to gently enter muscles and bones every skin that feels so at ease with the world.
Susan stood outside, close to the horse touching it and feeding it. Then, the guard came from behind her.
{Susan looking startled} by the gods, you?
{Guard} I'm sorry ma'am, just checking if you are okay.
{Susan} yeah, I am, are you? {she chuckled}.
{Guard feeling dizzy} good you are, because I'm not.
{Susan} what? you're feeling unwell?
Susan got close to hold him, the guard saw how she swallowed each saliva on her throat and the movement of her veins; "I got you" Susan said, holding him firmly.
{Guard} you have to leave me and go away now.
{Susan} no, I can't, you once saved my life... it's time I return the favour.
The guard got weaker and weaker as all the liquid in his body began to dry up. He started hallucinating; Susan managed to sit him down by an old stairs
{Susan} I'll go fetch the healer before it's dusk, just wait here.
Just as she turned to leave, she saw the guard in front of her, sweating profusely.
She turned back and he wasn't there.
{Susan} how did you do that?
{Guard} you smell so good and I'm starving, please pardon ma'am.
Before Susan could utter a word, he munched on her and drained her of all the liquid in her body... Susan dropped unconsciously to the floor, he bit his hand and gave her his own blood to drink as he left her there to recover while he flee.
Susan woke up a moment later and began to starve, she started hallucinating and hearing words in her head, she began to recall everything that has happened in her life even when she got bitten but she didn't remember anything else then she realised that she had been infected too, with sadness and anger she ran away into the woods due to fear not to hurt anyone until she's able to control her appetite.
When she got to the woods, she tried eating wild fruits but each taste makes her vomit. She had urges of biting herself to drink her own blood but she felt not to drink blood at all.
It was dusk already and the next day was a full moon, she built a little cover, with leaves so as she would be able to lay her head till morning.
throughout the night, Susan couldn't sleep as she couldn't help but groan in pain. She left her little shade and wandered into the woods looking for a way to quench her hunger, as she walk in and in, the moon began to shun brighter and brighter.
Just then she saw an antelope hiding under a little cover, she timed it quickly and dived at it and caught it using her vampire speed.
{Susan} could it be I have turned already but has to feed to complete it?
She felt sad for the little creature but had no other option than to rip its head off.
After satisfying her thirst, she watched her injury heal automatically.
"Okay, that's the good part"... {she said, touching her neck}
The moon was full already and the wolves were all out, but Susan had to get to her little shade for safety. On her way, a wolf attacked her and she started fighting it to defend herself, but the wolf was too strong to be killed.
The defence didn't go so well as Susan was already on the floor and the wolf on top of her, ready to rip her apart.
She tried to be tough but was panicking inside of her, she sneered at the animal still holding on with her last strength... Just then the moon moved and shined brighter.
The wolf looked into Susan's eyes and ran off; she got up and ran as fast as she could.
She saw a cabin in the woods and ran into it for safety, there she slept.
She woke the next morning, ready to leave when she saw Sanguinex at the doorstep naked and groaning.
Susan helped him in, she laid him on the beds she got a bowl to clean him up.
She apologised for invading his privacy as she explained why she was there.
Sanguinex thanked her for helping him as he thanked nature that Susan wasn't hurt.
TO BE CONTD...
