Chapter 15

Sonora's POV:

A satisfying sigh left my mouth as I felt the silk of the sheet against my skin

I rubbed my hands over the sheets and settled in comfort

Then the sudden realization came in

I instantly opened my eyes and shot up off the bed

I looked around and I was in a dark room

I could hardly see much because the curtains were all closed and the lights were off

It was quite obvious whose room this was his scent was all over it

I also looked down and my clothes were different I was out of the dirty cell clothes and I was in a white T-shirt and shorts

Did he change me?

I instantly rolled my eyes at the thought of him

I had never met anyone in my entire lifetime as confusing as him

He just adds on the misery I have to face along with the suffering and the very pains I have to deal with every single day

I got off his bed my bare feet hitting the cold marble floor

I walked towards the door and got ready to turn the knob when it was opened from outside

I walked backward making way for the person to enter

His tall frame pushed through the door and internally let out an annoyed sigh

At this point, it was just too early for him and his bullshit

"So you're awake," he said after a minute of silence

"Don't try to make conversation by asking stupid questions"

I received silence

"Is there a reason I'm here?" I asked walking over to the edge of the bed and sitting on it

"The witch is still on her way she got held up before"

I nodded

"And You will be staying in the room next to this after we're done"

I nodded once again

As he turned to leave

I asked one question that was heavy on my mind

"Are you going to renounce me as your mate?"

"No," he replied and continued to walk out

"Why?"

"Because you're my calm in the storm as much as you think I hate you I don't I have something inside me something that can not be tamed and for all the times I added onto your pain and suffering I apologize you can leave and come down for something to eat" he finished off and walked out the door leaving me speechless

I sat there and repeated the words over and over in my head

'You're my calm in the storm'

But who is mine

Who do I run to when I'm in pain?

Who hugs me when I have nightmares?

Who is my calm in the storm?

No one

I may be his but he has done nothing for me

Not one thing

I got off the bed and opened the door I walked through a large corridor until I reached the top staircase

I walked down I heard pots and pans banging and I flinched at the sound

I walked in the direction where I had heard it and a young woman was scrambling on her feet to take up everything that fell

I walked over to her grabbed some pans and placed them into an open cupboard

"Thank you so much," she said while her head was down

When she finally lifted it up she yelped and stumbled backwards

"Oh h-hi you the vampire everyone was talking about our Queen," she said shakily her hands that were holding a pot cover were trembling

I nodded and walked out

I was used to that reaction from werewolves, nymphs anyone and everyone alike

We are treated like we are a disease-ridden species 'Vermins' who want nothing but blood and chaos

And I've come to accept it

After all, having all that power feels good at times but it also comes with hatred for us

Persons who want to drive wooden stakes into our hearts

Burn us

Kill us with their stares and harsh words

I walked into the dining area where Alexios was seated

"You decided to come down"

"I thought we talked about using stupid questions to start a conversation," I said pulling out a chair at the vertical end of his seat

I sat and looked around the dining area a large chandelier hung above the table directly in the middle

4 chairs on each side and the 2 largest ones faced each other

The room was painted cream-white and had paintings around small sections of the room

It had a modern elegance to it

After a couple of minutes of observing and taking in my surroundings, five people came into the room with trays of food

They placed them on the table and stood there with their hands hung low

You may leave Alexio's deep voice echoed and they all rushed out stumbling over their own two feet

I looked around at the large plates of food stunned

Avocado toast

Egg and sausage sandwiches

Pancakes

Scrambled eggs

And others I could not recognize

I gathered my share along with some orange juice and I almost moaned when all the flavors burst into my mouth

I closed my eyes taking in all the flavours I could not remember the last time I ate food good food that is it made me want to live just to taste it once again

I opened my eyes to see Alexios staring and I stopped chewing realizing how wild I looked

Eating like an animal

I looked down and chewed slower gradually taking sips of the orange juice

"The witch will be arriving tomorrow," he said

"She confirmed the time with me today and she will be arriving as soon as dusk arrives"

I nodded

"Thank you for calling her I'm very grateful"

He hummed in response

I finished eating and got up to take my plates into the kitchen

"Stop," he said and I froze

"Leave them the maids will take care of it"

It's no problem I want to I replied and made my way to the kitchen

At the kitchen doorway I heard whispers I masked my scent and listened in

"Is he really going to sit and fraternize with the enemy"

"She's his mate our Queen don't bad talk her no matter how bad she is"

"I should have been his mate, not that lowlife" 

"She can do nothing for him while I can do everything she is not even pretty and that's the sad part about all this" the girl huffed

Jealous bitches always get on my nerves

I walked out of the dark and into the kitchen

Into their view

"Madam Queen you didn't have to" a small girl rushed to me and collected the dishes

"It's fine was not trouble at all," I said as I stared down at her with a small smile

I looked back up to see a brunette staring at me with the least bit of love and all the hate

I smiled at her and walked back out

I can tell she and I will be having a lot of problems if she doesn't stay out of my way

I walked back to the dining area and saw his seat empty

I saw a note on my end that says

I have a meeting will be back shortly-Alexios

I smiled slightly as I stared at the note

Maybe we have a future together after all.
