The school dance "prom"

The school dance is in a few days and Lisa seems to be nervous about it since it was her first ever prom. Betty on the other hand already had plans for the dance, she has been talking about it for some weeks now.

"I just can't wait for this year's prom" she said as she practices her dance steps in front of Lisa.

"at least you have a date already unlike me who doesn't even have anyone to go with" Lisa responded in a sad tone.

The high school dance is the most anticipated event in Angeles High School cause all students would have the chance to have fun and socialize especially those in the twelfth grade.

It's their opportunity to enjoy their last time in high school before the final examinations at least it will help reduce the tension and loosen them a bit.

Betty and Henry are the most talked about lovers in twelfth grade and so everyone is waiting to see how they would turn up for prom. they both will certainly want to show off their luxuries at the event especially Betty.

The school head announced the date for the dance and the entire school were thrilled cause no one ever would want to miss "Prom" for anything.

Lisa became even more worried when Mrs Henderson(the school head) announced that only those with dates will be allowed in to the venue.

she has always wanted to go for the dance but no body wanted to take her as a date not, because she wasn't pretty enough but because she didn't really relate well with any boy in school and she turned down all the guys that asked her to the dance. She wants to go with someone who she likes.

Sitting at her usual spot "the balcony" Lisa thinks about the upcoming prom and her final year exams.

"I really have to graduate with a good grade" she ponders as her mom walks in.

" Lisa my dear, are you okay she asks.

"I'm fine mom, " she replies with a shabby tone.

"I know something is bothering you?" Her mom says.

"I'm just worried about my final exams and....... P-r-o-m" Lisa responds.

"you've always made us proud in your academics so your exams shouldn't be a problem?" Mrs Gina said

"But prom? why are you worried about that?" she asks.

After few minutes of silence Lisa replied while her mom sits close to her.

"you mean no one has asked you out to prom?" Mrs Gina asked with a surprise look.

"its not that mom but I don't really like any of them, I want someone am free with and none of them fits into that criteria" she responds with her hands on her cheeks.

"what about Frederick?" her mom says with a grin. just as she mentioned his name, Lisa became nervous and begins to stammer.

"isn't he your best friend? and besides you both look good together". she jolted.

"F-re-de-rick, no mom" Lisa sneered as she replies her mom.

"huh? why not?" her mom says

"uhmm nothing but I'm sure he already has a date to the prom" Lisa said with a worried look.

"hmm I can see you're in love with him but you pretend not too" her mom responds with her eyes fixed on Lisa's.

"mom come on , I'm not in love with anybody and certainly not Fredrick she replies her with a stunned face.

"I understand how you feel cause it's your first time but trust me being in love is one of the most beautiful thing in the world" she responds.

"I remember when I was in my twelfth grade like you, I had a best friend just like Frederick but he never approached me about his feelings not until prom night" Mrs Gina added as Lisa moved closer to her in anxiety.

"prom night?" Lisa asked.

"yes prom night. it was at the dance he told me about his feelings and that he was scared to tell me because he didn't want to ruin our friendship".

"wow" Lisa stunned

"but he couldn't hide his feelings anymore and so he had to tell me" Mrs Gina continues.

"that prom night was so special that I never forgot about it till today"

Lisa was so happy that she and her mom were having this conversation.

"so my dear, if he asks you out to the dance.....I believe you know the reply you'd give him right?" Mrs Gina asks as they both walked downstairs to prepare dinner.

"yes mom, this conversation really helped me. thank you so much I feel much better now" Lisa replies as she hugs her mother.

The next morning, Lisa was getting dressed for school when the Frederick came for them to go to school together as usual.

"hey jerk" Lisa said jokingly as they both laughed and waited for the driver to take them to school.

"so has anyone asked you to prom? Frederick said as he looks through his phone.

"uhmm not really" Lisa replies as she pretends to be looking at the magazine.

" mind if I officially ask you to prom?" Frederick asks nervously.

"Omg, he finally asked me to prom" Lisa muttered to herself.

"ain't you going to say anything?Lisa? he continues.

Lisa still lost in thoughts finally came back to reality.

"oh yes prom....I...I....will think about it. give me till tomorrow please. she said as she smiles.

"alright then. I'll wait for your response" Frederick replies as they both noticed the car stopped at the school gate.
