Skye's Worries

Kaecilius's arrival didn't make waves in Kamar-Taj; Fanny was the only one with prejudice against him, after all. Most people in this place have their own stories. Fanny, who intentionally came here, was a unique case.

In the library...

Fanny gloomily closed the ancient and thick magic book, stopping short of throwing the book on the floor. He recognized most of the words in the description but still could not use any spells related to the spiritual body.

Forget about striking someone else's soul; he couldn't even project his own soul. He even suspected if the book's author were conning him—of course, that was just suspicion out of desperation.

He couldn't continue like this, so he decided to find Ancient One and think of a solution.

Fanny checked out the magic book to the librarian and brought it with him to find Ancient One.

"Master, help me with something!"

Fanny came in front of Ancient One, holding the book. He said desperately, "I really can't understand what is written here. You should let me experience the feeling of my soul leaving my body!"

"Maybe you are too hasty."

Ancient One slowly brewed tea; her gait almost looked lazy.

"Oh, no need to hurry." Fanny looked at Ancient One with hidden bitterness. "January almost ended, but I still can't understand anything."

"That's why I told you back then. Kamar-Taj's spells might not be suitable for you."

Ancient One was still as calm as ever.

"Master, I'm going to embarrass you if this continues. Please help me." Fanny looked at Ancient One pitifully. "I just need a wave from your hands."

"Listen here, you!"

Ancient One helplessly stood up from the chair and walked to Fanny. She took a stance with her left hand on her waist and his right hand flat and tight. She slammed her right palm at Fanny's chest.

In an instant, Fanny felt that the world had changed.

He felt his body becoming light. He looked down and found his body had become semi-transparent. His clothes hadn't changed, but he couldn't hold the magic book in his arms.

His body was falling very slowly in front of him after Ancient One pushed it.

A short time later, Fanny suddenly felt a great suction force coming from his body.

The next second, he returned to his normal state and took a step back.

Fanny recalled the feeling just now. This was the first time his soul came out of his body. The novel experience made him want to do it again, but Ancient One denied him.

"Haste makes waste. Nothing can be forced!"

Ancient One returned to her chair and sat down. She took a sip of tea and ordered Fanny to leave. "Go back. I believe that you will master it sooner or later."

"How late will it be then?"

Fanny muttered helplessly. But he knew Ancient One's personality and how difficult it was to change her decision, so he could only leave with the book in his hands.

Fanny saw Kaecilius on his way back. Kaecilius was training alone, with a slightly changed appearance. He seemed less sad, which probably meant that he had also talked with Ancient One.

Fanny watched Kaecilius from afar. Tony's case had proven that he could change the future, so he didn't want to recklessly contact Kaecilius. He was worried that his interference would hasten Kaecilius' contact with Dormammu.

Fanny continued his astral magic training, having gotten a clue from Ancient One's demonstration. He was still miles away from projecting his soul, though.

Fanny returned the book to the library and returned home through the portal. Early morning in Kamar-Taj equals night in New York; he was already accustomed to the differing time zones.

Just as Fanny was about to rest, someone suddenly knocked on his door.

"Fanny, are you in there?"

"Yes, come in!"

Fanny replied. He stared at Skye, who had opened the door and walked in. He asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"

"Fanny, there are some things I want to talk to you about."

"Alright!"

Skye paused, not knowing what to say. Hesitation and determination danced in her eyes.

"Fanny, don't take this the wrong way. I have been living very happily all these years. I loved our parents like my biological parents... But..."

Fanny already knew what she wanted to say. Her heart still had a massive scar after being abandoned by her biological parents. Although she already had a real home here, she still couldn't let go of this.

"You said that Master Ancient One could see the future. Can you help me ask about them—"

Fanny sighed silently in his heart. Skye had investigated this last year too, but Fanny stopped her out of fear of attracting SHIELD's attention.

Now, another year had passed, and Skye still couldn't forget this matter.

"Skye, I understand what you mean."

Fanny beckoned Skye to sit by the bed and said, "Actually, I do know some things about your parents, but I have to remind you that they may not be in good condition."

"You really know?!" Skye grabbed Fanny's hands excitedly and asked nervously, "Who are they? Where are they now?"

"I forgot their name."

Fanny scratched his head in embarrassment. He coughed slightly and quickly continued, "Actually, I'm not too sure about the location either. In short, I only know a part of the reason why you were abandoned."

For the sake of his family, Fanny could give up some principles, such as the no-spoiler policy.

He had refused to tell Skye because he lacked the strength to protect her. But he was also worried that not telling her anything would make her act on irrational impulses.

During the last year, Skye had seen Kamar-Taj's mages, witnessed Iron Man's debut, and even experienced the power of 'Demon Armor Incursio.' Her understanding of the world had changed a lot.

Fanny also had obtained some amount of strength, so he could afford to be a little less cautious. Of course, the most important thing was to stop Skye from recklessly investigating on her own.

Skye's feelings were unimaginably complicated, realizing that she might finally know the truth that she had been struggling with for so many years. She took a deep breath as if preparing her heart.

"What was the reason?"

"Your hometown was attacked. They took your mother away. Then another organization hid you in the orphanage to protect you."

"So they didn't willingly abandon me, right?"

Skye didn't seem to realize her own breath of relief. After seeing Fanny nod, she pressed further, "Who attacked my mother and my father? Who took me away? Why did they send me to the orphanage?"

Skye discovered her complex past, and Fanny's words had only given her more questions.
