Shameless Fanny

Skye wasn't too attached to the fish in her hand to keep it as a memento, so she agreed with Fanny's decision to make it dinner. Her mind immediately became filled with how they could cook the fish—steamed, braised, or roasted?!

"Let's go to the next place tomorrow," Fanny snapped Skye out of her thoughts. There were only two days left of his holiday. If he couldn't find the location in the next destination, he would have to wait until the next vacation rolled around.

Skye finally returned from her daydream and asked, "Where are we going tomorrow?"

"Puerto Rico!"

Thus, Fanny and Skye arrived in Puerto Rico the next day. There wasn't much special thing to do in this country. Even the capital city of San Juan wasn't a big and vibrant metropolis, just an ordinary city.

"Where are we going?" Skye asked Fanny excitedly, gawking around outside a wine shop.

"Let's walk around first!" Fanny answered absent-mindedly, preoccupied with a surprising discovery.

The compass had been moving considerably ever since he arrived at San Juan. They must be pretty close to his destination—the place that could awaken Skye's ability should be in this city.

"It has to be underground!" Fanny looked down at the road beneath his feet and then looked at Skye, who was still gawking around curiously. He did not tell her about his objective; there should be enough time to prepare everything before telling her.

Fanny quietly paid attention to the compass, leading Skye around the city. They finally arrived at an ancient castle near the dock. Fanny guessed that the ruins left by the Kree would be below the old castle, but he didn't go down to check it out. He decided to be careful since he didn't know what dangers could be hidden within.

The two of them took the plane home a day later.

Fanny actually wanted to open a portal right back home, but considering that the two of them had left the country through the proper route, they might garner suspicion if they returned without leaving any records. That's why they ultimately took the plane.

There was no accident during the return flight either. It seemed that the world outside of New York was actually quite safe.

Skye's mood significantly improved through the trip, and her usual personality had returned, albeit she now had a burning goal inside her heart. Her desire was reflected in her daily training.

Since Skye had worked so hard, Fanny naturally did not want to fall behind.

Fanny returned to school with no problem. He wasn't ranked first in his grade but was definitely among the top. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said with his study of Kamar-Taj's magic.

"I don't want to learn; I don't want to learn!" Fanny threw a tantrum after failing to project his astral form again. He felt that learning to open a portal wasn't this difficult.

"You are too ambitious." Mordo walked over to Fanny, frowning at his irritated appearance. He advised, "Fanny, this is really too complex for you."

Fanny sighed. He didn't want to admit it, but he really wanted to give up. Even if he finally succeeded in learning it, using astral magic with such half-baked understanding would be nowhere near enough to deal with Abomination.

"Oh well. I understand; I'll put it off for later," Fanny replied. He was indeed not in the proper condition to learn astral magic, especially since it requires a mastery of mental control. He couldn't boost it by using 'Ars Magna' simultaneously.

"You are still young and have plenty of time. Why are you in such a hurry?" Mordo asked curiously. He always felt that Fanny's study had a specific purpose.

"Time does not wait for me!" Fanny replied honestly. If things progressed at the pace of the original plot, he would have ten years at most before Thanos began his invasion. If Fanny wasn't careful, it might even come sooner. There were plenty of things to worry about.

"?"

Mordo's face turned into a large question mark, but Fanny interrupted before he could ask his question, "Alright, alright, forget about all that. Let's spar!"

"I still have to teach Kaecilius some spells later," Mordo replied while shaking his head.

"Dog, you've changed!"

Fanny resentfully glared at Mordo. Mordo had never refused to spar with him, but Kaecilius had changed that in the short time he was here.

Was this how women who were abandoned by their husbands for younger girls felt?!

"Dog?" Mordo looked at Fanny, dumbfounded. He had no idea what he was talking about.

"If his talent was so good, just let him train by himself!" Fanny continued, "You should focus more on a hardworking little mage like me!"

"…" Mordo looked at Fanny speechlessly. He ultimately agreed to Fanny's request for a spar; it wouldn't take too much time anyway. And they already know each other's limits, so it wouldn't affect his lesson to other mages later.

But Mordo's opponent was none other than Fanny, who wouldn't let Mordo continue as usual knowing who he would be teaching next.

Fanny hoped that by slowing down Kaecilius' study, he would be easier to deal with when he eventually betrays Kamar-Taj.

Therefore, Fanny exerted his full effort to attack Mordo's face in the ensuing fight.

Fanny had trained hard almost every day in Kamar-Taj. His study of spells might not be progressing much, but his physical strength had been improving steadily.

He had reached the point where he could win more times than lose against Mordo, especially if he went moderately seriously.

Mordo glared with his swollen face at Fanny after the battle ended.

"I'm such a fool." Mordo struggled to open his eyes. "I knew that you hated Kaecilius. I shouldn't have told you I'm teaching him next!"

"This and that are different matters. I just felt like going serious for a bit."

Fanny turned his head, avoiding Mordo's eyes, but he grinned slightly. Mordo hadn't left any wounds on his body, thanks to the protection of 'Demon Armor Incursio.'

Fanny looked at Mordo's miserable appearance and erased his grin. "Don't worry, they're just scratches. You'll be fine in a couple days."

Mordo said nothing. If he could defeat Fanny in a straight fistfight, he would've challenged him again.

Despite still being unable to learn astral magic, Fanny was in a pretty good mood after obstructing Kaecilius' progress. His smile didn't dissipate even after returning home through a portal.

A blink of an eye later, and it was March.

Fanny put his complete focus on gaining more experience after giving up on astral magic. Thus marked the return of Kamar-Taj's battle maniac.

Only this time, he had gained the title of "Silver Knight," and he would shamelessly flee into the air if he couldn't win in a straight fight.

"Admit defeat, Mage Daniel. You can't win against me," Fanny shouted to a bald mage from high up in the air. As the guardian of the New York Sanctum, Daniel Drumm was quite strong; he was also the one who guided Fanny to Kamar-Taj.

"Mage Fanny, you can't continue like this!" Daniel shouted in frustration from the training field. There weren't many mages that could fly. Although there were spells to control wind currents, it was very difficult to precisely hit Fanny, who could fly freely with Sky Dance.

"Says who? I'll go down if you admit defeat," Fanny replied loudly. His current strength was actually more than enough to match Daniel, but he had already fought two other people in a row, so his stamina was drained. That was why he used this method to force a surrender.

After all, the experience gained from victory was more than defeat. Fanny felt like this was a kind of loophole in the system, but he didn't care. He would lose face as many times as he needed for the sake of experience points.
