Alexander Morgan:

General POV

Alexander Morgan.

The CEO of Morgan Software solution.

Age 30.

Orphan. His parents died from an accident when he was a teenager leaving him and his little sister Carol, behind.

Didn't inherit any wealth from his family, all his wealth is from his hardwork.

Status; still single.

Romours have it that his love was never reciprocated and since then he had never fallen in love again.

Other romours have it that he was gay.

Being single yet popular and rich was not the nicest of the things by the way.

Alex was Ray's best friend since childhood. They were from the same age group, studied in the same school and both had started their journey to success from scratch; which was not an easy journey. The fact that he was Ray's friend and Laura's whole life was filled with Ray, before he died, made him also Laura's friend.

That's how the four became close.

Laura.

Ray.

Alex.

Carol.

He was shattered when Ray died. Amongst the four, Ray was his favorite. The two were so close that there were fan fictions and blogs about the two being in an initimate relationship despite the fact that Ray was already married. There were many photo shopped images of the two showing affection for each other. That was how close the two were...inseperable until death took one of them.

After Ray's death, all that care and affection he had for Ray was transferred to Laura...but was that really the case. At first those close to them...Ray and Alex thought they had fallen out with each other. After Ray's marriage, Alex moved out of the country. Gradually he cut all communication with the Williams. In almost a decade, that was the second time Laura saw him.

One thing is for sure, Alex never did things without careful evaluation. He always had reasons and plans at hand. But one of his reasons seemed clear to everyone...To take care of the Williams. He really did not want his friend's family to appear in any scandal in the near future. That was the reason why he was hostile towards Dario when he saw how affectionate he was with Laura.

According to him, Laura's getting involved with any man more so the Andersons was not good. He had a feeling that the case was closed too soon... that the police was trying to protect the Andersons by putting the whole blame on Ray. That was one of the reasons why he came back to his hometown. He needed to investigate Ray's death.

However, he didn't expect to meet Leigh wondering about in the mall and later Laura already involved with the two Anderson brothers.

Dealing with pretty women was not an easy thing.

Why was he at the Mall?

He had made very many beautiful memories with Ray in that mall most especially, the entertainment section where they used to play video games anytime the two met. That was why his first destination immediately after arriving at the mall was the fourth floor. Too sad he didn't get time to reminisce the past.

It was, however, not that bad since he got to meet Ray's favorite person, Leigh and planned a quick site seeing with her. The two, even though they met once in their lifetime, there was a vibe between them. Someone could easily tell that they had alot of stories and seen a lot of photos of each other. The familiarity was not shocking.

At first, he had assumed that she was trying to hide from her mother, like always.

Her, getting lost was the last thing on his mind until one of his men informed him that Laura was crazily looking for Leigh.

~~~
"What happened to me?"
Laura asked weakly as she woke up. Alex had decided to hide the details from her, at first, but after seeing the curiosity in her eyes, he decided otherwise. She was going to know sooner if not later anyway.
"You were pregnant."
He stated while looking at her keenly trying to fish out some reactions from her.
Joy....confusion...realization...panic.
"Were?"
The impatient CEO looked at the young lady who wanted him to repeat himself, what he hated doing, and almost chuckled. He was delivering some bad news so chuckling or acting amused was not a good show. For once, he decided to be patient and explain every tiny details to her.
"Yeah. You were three weeks pregnant before the miscarriage."
Alex looked at the calm Laura. He had expected her to cry...like she always did whenever something bad happened to her or family. She did not cry. That left him wondering the amount of pain she had gone through to make her immune to pain. She had become emotionless. With no feelings whatsoever. Ray's death must have broken her so hard. She was empty inside. That was not his friend's wife.
Before, she had been that cheerful but delicate woman such that even a slight scratch on her skin could make her cry.
Ray had loved and pampered her so much that his demise damaged her.
"Cause?"
She asked interrupting Alex's thoughts.
"Seems you have been overworking yourself lately. The doctors advised alot of rest."
She nodded calmly.
"How many people knows?"
"Me, Liz, Thomas and now you. I'm sure Carol would love to know."
"It's fine. Including Carol, let it just be between the five of us. I don't want the kids and media to know."
Alex nodded in understanding. He was also against the media poking their nose into the William's affairs anymore. And the kids...they were going to be hurt. Learning about another death in the family was not good for them.
He kissed her on her forehead before leaving her side. It was a just a platonic kiss, he did not expect hostility from someone he crushed into by the door. Anderson. Why were the Andersons interested in the William's lately? The last time he checked, the two were business rivals.
Interesting.
"Anderson."
Alex acknowledged his presence just for the sake of courtesy.
"Morgan."
Dario returned the favour. He watched as Alex disappeared from the corridors before going to Laura. He tried holding her hands but she withdrew her hands.
Ouch!
That really hurt. Why was the 'Alex guy' being given a kiss and he was being denied just holding hands. Dario refused to accept defeat. Andersons never gave up that easily.
Dario refused to be discouraged by that little action of hers.
He gently held her forehead as if he was testing for fever.
His dark eyes stared at her intensely as if he was staring deep into her soul. That made Laura uncomfortable. She looked away avoiding his gaze, not because she was shy but because only Ray had ever looked at her that way. Another person doing that made her uncomfortable.
"Why are you here?"
She asked to distract him. That worked. He broke away from the gaze.
"To check up on you."
He answered comfortably like it was a normal thing.
"Why?"
Laura interrogated him further. She really wanted to know his intentions. She did not want to give him false hopes.
"Should I have a reason?"
Dario asked back amused. He had already realized that it was a trap for him. Luckily he realized it quickly or else he could have been rejected even before he got a chance to confess to her.
"Yes."
She answered curtly before continuing with, "I don't want to think of you as someone who gives random visits to all the patients in the hospital."
There was a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Dario felt Laura had changed alot after waking up. She was not the same as the lady boss he had known in the last few days.Yeah before, she was not that friendly, neither was she hostile. After about one hour, she became more distant. What really happened? Why were the doctors not talking? Was it that much confidential? Dario had so many unanswered questions on his mind.
"I was with you in the afternoon when you fell sick. Is that enough reason for me to visit."
He rebutted.
Laura gazed at him for a while as if she was validating his claim before giving up. That guy was really good at hiding things.
She nodded.
"What did the doctors say?"
"Nothing much. Just body cramps."
She lied and Dario blindly believed her...or that is what she thought.
"You shouldn't over exhaust yourself. I'll let you rest."
Dario said before leaving the ward.
Laura watched as he left. She felt bad for lying to him. He did not deserve that.
She however pushed back those feelings at the back of her mind.
It was the best thing to do.
