Chapter 8

Harold shifted his gaze to Victoria and Lawrence, Stacey's parents. Making them put their heads down in shame, and fear.

"Poor attitude, just like her mom and dad I see….now she's trying to refuse the marriage?" Harold said coldly, he slowly shifted his cold gaze back to Stacey.

Not even intimidated a bit with her grandpa's glare, Stacey replied nonchalantly, "I'm not refusing the marriage…there are a lot of boys from good families…."

Before she could finish talking Mrs. Gwendolyn Roth interrupted. "Stacey Roth, you agreed to this marriage….yes or no?"

Stacey rolled her eyes in irritation, scanned everyone's reaction, and replied. "I agreed to divorce Arthur…..I didn't agree to marry Caine. You can't expect me to marry a person who doesn't respect women, Grandma!" Stacey said nonchalantly.

Feeling disrespected by Stacey's attitude, Mrs Grace Duhamel stood up to leave, "Well this deal is off Roth's family….we'll be on our way."

"Indeed, I will enjoy seeing Rincs Corp and Roth Industries fall." Mr Wade Duhamel said, as he stood up to leave.

The other members of the Roth family also stood up, with disappointed looks on their faces.

"What a worst time."

Angry with what's happening, and Stacey's attitude towards the Duhamels, Gwendolyn's face gained redness, "In grate, I'm your grandma and I know what's good for you, and this family, you are going to marry Mr. Caine no matter what, do I make myself clear?"

Ignoring her grandmother, Stacey stood up, and gave her grandmother a look, as she nonchalantly walked up the stairs. 'I'm not marrying a douchebag.' Stacey thought as she slowly walked up the stairs.

"Stacey stop, I'm demanding you to stop!" Gwendolyn yelled desperately, Stacey turned around and looked at her with an emotionless expression.

How did you raise your child Lawrence? She is so disrespectful." Wade Duhamel, glared at Lawrence.

Before Stacey could disappear from everyone's line of sight Mrs Gwendolyn said something that made her stop, and it always made her listen to her wicked grandma. "Stacey if you don't, listen to me, Arthur dies!"

Feeling her heart pound faster and violently inside her chest, Stacey turned and looked at her grandmother, disbelief in her eyes. "What? Grandma, but that's not fair, he has nothing to do with this family anymore!" Stacey shouted, she couldn't believe her grandma.

"Grandma stop it with that, he has nothing to do with that!" Stacey yelled, walking down the stairs while glaring at her grandma, with rage in her eyes.

Seeing how defeated Stacey looked, a menacing grin appeared on Gwendolyn's face. 'Look at that, this trick still works….the same trick I used to keep her as a virgin all these years despite being married,' Gwendolyn thought. "Stacey Roth, if you don't want your soon to be ex husband to die, you'll do exactly what I tell you to do, you'll marry Caine!" Gwendolyn ordered taking out her cellphone.

Stacey had a rather soft expression on her face as she swallowed her pride, looked at her Grandma and said pleadingly, "Grandma please…"

Gwendolyn interrupted Stacey's sentence by pointing a finger at her, "No no, my lovely granddaughter, no need to beg your granny for anything, come sit next to grandma." Gwendolyn said Stacey in a sweet voice. Swallowing her pride, Stacey took a seat next to Gwendolyn.

Seeing the scene unfold. Seeing how humble their soon to be daughter in-law became, the Duhamel family got back to their respective seats.

"Stacey, you know you're my favorite, right?" Gwendolyn asked in a sweet scolding tone, as Stacey sat down next to her with her head down. "Here." Mrs Gwendolyn handed her cellphone to Stacey.

Stacey hesitantly took the cellphone, as she looked at her grandma, wondering what's going on her Grandma's head. "Look at what's on the screen Stacey." Gwendolyn urged coldly. Slowly turning her eyes to look at what's on the screen, Stacey was shocked with what she saw. "No!" Stacey screamed, seeing a picture of Arthur laying on consciousness outside the main gate of the villa. Stacey dropped the cellphone and glared at her Grandma, raged burning in her eyes.

Mrs Gwendolyn slowly reached her arm to Stacey's cheeks, to wipe the tears of her granddaughter. "Stacey, my dear Stacey….now why must you make me hurt your feelings now huh?" Gwendolyn gently lifted Stacey's chin, as she said; "Don't worry he's alright, and he'll be fine as long as you do what you're supposed to do, you hear me?" Gwendolyn threatened in a sweet voice.

Without replying to her grandmother, Stacey ran upstairs, tears welling down her cheeks.

After Stacey left, Mrs Gwendolyn sighed in relief, she smiled and looked at Grace and Wade Duhamel, "Done, now let's fix the day of the marriage." Gwendolyn said nonchalantly, without an ounce of shame.

Grace smiled and nodded her head, "Sure."

"Wow, you're the best…we'll have to use that trick on our daughter Kathy, she refuses to get married." Wade said.

The way Gwendolyn threatened her granddaughter was not at all cruel and wicked to the Duhamels, and some members of the Roth family.

One of the people that were not happy with what just happened were Hailey and Damian Roth.

"Grandma, aren't you scared my sister will hate everything you're doing right now?" Hailey asked with an annoyed expression. She couldn't believe her grandma was such a wicked woman.

"I know she hates me right now, but she'll thank me later, she'll thank me in the future." Mrs Gwendolyn chuckled. Feeling proud of herself.

At the same moment Caine walked in with the same bodyguards that helped him beat Arthur up.

"Mr. Caine! Welcome!" Harold greeted me.

"You brought gifts?"

Caine took a seat on the sofa, "Yes they are my future wife's gifts." Caine replied making it clear, cause he knew Victoria would take the gifts for herself.

"My daughter is the luckiest girl in the world." Victoria said.

Caine looked around in the living room, feeling a bit disappointed because Stacey was not in the living room.

"Wow they look expensive, you're the real deal, Mr. Caine." Kimberly, Damian's first wife said, with a smile, and then she turned to her husband Damian frowned, "I wish my husband got me expensive gifts."

Hearing that Damian put his head down in shame. Must she always complain about everything?

"You want expensive things? You need to work for them." Naomi, Damian's second wife, said while comfortingly rubbing Damian's hand.

At the same moment, Courtney, Stacey's friend, entered the house. She glanced at everyone in the living room, her face forming a smile, "Roth family…. having a good time are we?" Courtney asked, a hint of mockery in her tone. "Well some of us are having a good time, while some are crying." Courtney said, briefly looking at Gwendolyn who just furrowed her brows in annoyance.

As the daughter of the governor of Angels' city, and the youngest CEO in Angeles city, she couldn't be intimidated by the Roth family as they were below her family, so she always made fun of them for being petty. Especially Victoria and Gwendolyn.

"Courtney dear, how are you?" Victoria flashed a smile and got up from her seat to greet Courtney, but Courtney ignored her and went up the stairs to Stacey's room.

'I hope that bastard didn't die.' Caine thought to himself. He knew better that if Arthur dies then there is no way to blackmail Stacey.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Angel City.

Decorative lights and illuminants lit up the opulence Stark Villa, today would be the arrival of the young master, Arthur Stark. Jared was decorating the Stark villa, preparing for the arrival of young master Arthur. He heard about what happened in the Roth Villa, from his informants.

"Ummm, sir where should these go?" A brunette asked Jared.

Confused with why she was asking him that, Jared shrugged his shoulders with a slight smile and replied, "I don't know, isn't that your job young miss?"

"I thought you might like to suggest some things…since you're the boss?" The lady humbly replied with a smile.

"Umm no I wouldn't like to suggest." Jared replied. At the same moment, his cellphone rang. "Excuse me." Jared said to the young lady as he took out his cellphone.

"Hello." Jared said, as soon as he put the cellphone to his ear, a frown crept up on his face when he heard Arthur's breathy tone.

"….Master Stark, are you alright?" Jared humbly asked.
