Chapter 9

"….Master Stark, are you alright?" Jared humbly asked, sounding concerned, His face gaining redness at the thought of something happening to Arthur. "Master Arthur, are you in trouble at that house? Just say the word and we'll wipe out that entire family."

"Jared calm down, I'm alright Jared, I kind of sprained my ankle, when I was coming down the stairs." Arthur lied. Knowing damn well, what his butler will do to the Roths' if he finds out about what happened to him. "Jared I don't need you to come here, just send someone okay?" Arthur ordered, hanging up the cellphone.

After Jared hung up the cellphone, an old man walked to him. The man looked like he was sixty years old, if not younger.

After spotting the old man walking to him, Jared bowed respectively, "Master Stark, you're here?"

"Yes, you told me my grandson is coming back today, I've decided to come and welcome him, even though he hates me!" The man said, sounding sad.

"Well...the preparations for your grandson's arrival are going well." Jared said to the old man respectfully. The old man's name was Christian Stark, Arthur's grandfather.

"Good….." Christian nodded with a smile, looking at Jared suspiciously, as Jared was sweating profusely. "Jared is everything Alright?" Christian asked with a perplexed look.

Jared bowed slightly.

"Well, Young master, Arthur called, I think he is in trouble at the Roth Villa." Jared said hesitantly and nervously.

Looking away from Jared, Christian chuckled, "If you're worried about my grandson, don't be. He is a Stark after all, he'll protect himself…at least now he'll learn that running away from who you really are has consequences," Christian said nonchalantly.

"Right." Jared replied.

Christian heard from someone that his grandson Arthur got beaten up, but that didn't worry him, as he knew that if Arthur got beaten up it was because Arthur allowed himself to get beaten. He was a Stark after all, and the Stark's are not regular people.

"Send our military men to escort my grandson here." Christian ordered, he turned around and walked away.

Meanwhile at the Roth Villa.

"I want that useless son in law chained and beaten up, until Stacey gets married." Gwendolyn ordered the security guards that stood over her.

"Grandma, are you sure that's a good idea? What if something happens to him?" Damian asked his grandma, with a worried expression.

"Then it's not our problem isn't it? we just have to use him to threaten Stacey." Harold backed his wife.

"Yeah, no one asked him to get involved in this family in the first place, so he deserves what's coming for him." Victoria sneered. To think that useless son in-law expected to get rich by marrying into their family.

"Sure ma'am." The guards nodded in compliance, they turned around to go and do their task.

"Wait!" Caine's demanding voice made them stop, the security guards turned and looked at him.

Caine looked at Gwendolyn and a sinister grin formed on his face, "Let's just leave the imbecile….I don't want to give my future wife a reason to hate me." Caine said smugly.

Meanwhile Arthur was standing outside the Roth Villa, leaning on the main gate, looking carefree, as if he didn't just get beaten up a few hours ago, apart from his clothes being bloody, his face looked all healed.

Arthur apprehensively looked at his watch and sighed audibly.

'Is Jared going to make me wait here, forever?' Arthur thought to himself, looking over himself, his clothes looked bloody. 'I can't walk like this…. people are going to be terrified of me, they'll think I'm some mad person or something.' Arthur thought. He didn't like staying outside the Roth Villa, but he couldn't just start walking with his dirty bloody clothes. On top of that, if he had to walk to the Stark Villa, it would take him hours to get there. Unless he uses his abilities, but if he does that then his grandfather would win, cause that's exactly what his grandfather wants.

Stacey looked at the couch where Arthur used to sleep, she got emotional, and a tear almost came out of her eye, but she contained it. 'He hates me now….but he has to understand, I can't be with him, maybe I'll explain to him in the future,' Stacey tried to convince herself.

She was hurting so much when she saw Arthur getting beat up,she wanted to intervene, she wanted to slap Caine so hard, she wanted to kill him for beating her husband, for laying a hand on her husband, she wanted to attend to Arthur's wounds, but she couldn't do all of those things, all because someone threatened her.

Courtney, her Friend was seated next to her, just observing her. Seeing her childhood friend who was like a sister to her, like this made Courtney sad.

"What are you even sad about? This is what you wanted right? You should be happy right now, your useless husband is gone girl," Courtney cheerfully and mockingly said. She had been trying to talk to Stacey for sometime now but Stacey kept ignoring her.

Furrowing her brows Courtney looked at Stacey agitatedly.

"So I see, still giving people the silent treatment huh?"

No answer either? Courtney just kept quiet, she took a deep breath and mimicked Stacey's sitting posture, and that irritated Stacey so much that she wanted to smack her friend on the head. "Can you stop doing that, you know how annoying that is?" Stacey said, staring at Courtney.

"Money isn't everything Stacey." Courtney convincingly said, looking Stacey in the eyes.

"Yes it is, I don't think I can be happy without money." Stacey replied, nonchalantly. "And if this is about Arthur…stop it! I only married that guy to make him regret taking advantage of me that night." Stacey lied. Trying to convince Courtney.

Stacey was not the type to tell people her problems, she'd rather face everything alone.

At that same moment Caine entered the bedroom, carrying a bowl of ice cream.

Courtney rolled her eyes in irritation,' Doesn't he know how to knock?" Courtney thought to herself, she hated Caine. He was a womanizer, he once hit on her, and now he wants to marry her friend?

"Here have some ice cream, my Lady," Caine said softly, attempting to hand Stacey a bowl of ice cream, but Stacey pushed the bowl away and glared at Caine. This was all his fault, if he didn't shamelessly pursue her, Gwendolyn wouldn't have made her separate with her husband.

Seeing how not pleased Stacey was with Caine's presence in the room, Courtney intervened.

"Maybe she's not in the mood for ice cream." Courtney said, taking the ice cream bowl from Caine's hand and setting it on the bedside table, "And I think she's not in the mood for some people, so can you give her some space?"

Caine faintly chuckled, as he lustfully looked at Courtney.

"Well, good friends stand up for each other, I'm glad my future wife has a friend who cares about her," Caine said playfully , while caressing his beard.

Deep down he felt like teaching Courtney a lesson, but he couldn't do that right now, that would be showing his ugly true colors to Stacey.

Caine turned his head to Stacey and suddenly attempted to kiss her.

But before he could land his lips on hers Stacey slapped him without a second thought.

"Get out, you pervert! Get the fuck out!" Stacey yelled at him, her eyes bloodshot.

Courtney's mouth was hanging open, she was startled by what just happened, everything happened so fast for her. 'Way to go sis…. it's about time someone slaps this pervert.' Courtney thought to herself. But why did she slap him, it was just a kiss, isn't it normal for people who are engaged to kiss?
