"You don't want to do this." He warned again as he sat down relaxed on the sofa. "Bruce, warn them."

"See, you don't want to bet on this game because you will only lose, My boss is the best, second to none." Bruce warned just as his boss told him to.

"I'm not backing down." Val was determined.

"Okay." The strange man who is Bruce's boss said as he sat upright while he got into position for the game.

They started the game. To me, random pawns was been moved but to them it meant something. 

In less than five minutes, the son of a monkey who was Bruce's boss relaxed once again with a smirk on his face.

Val's face was down cast with sweat dripping off her forehead; she had the look of someone who wished to be anywhere but in this same room.

From the dramatic display I have seen from both sides, the atmosphere, one of my worst fears came  into reality.

He won! He. Freaking. Won!!

MISLED

"You seem to forget Kirsten is nice to Jackie sometimes, and Jackie doesn't know I'm not her real mother." I sighed. 


"Fighting for custody of a child isn't a trouble I want to add to my troubles," I said on a final note. 


Val nodded as she increased the speed of the car, driving us to our destination. 


"This should do," Val spoke as she scrutinized one of the numerous smartphones in the phones section of the mall. I agreed with her but... 


"It's too expensive," I argued as I saw the number of zero's on it. 


"It's my money," Val said giving me her signature pointed look. 


"Whatever. When your money is finished, don't involve my name." I warned finally in defeat. 


Val smiled as she walked to the cashier to pay with her bank card. I walked to her. 


"Here, keep it" Val handed the phone over to me immediately after I caught up with her. "Keep it, we will set the phone when we get home." 


"Huh? We aren't going home yet?" I asked quizzically.
