The hunter didn't dodge his eyes as he stared back without fear. There was no emotion in those blue eyes, creating visible confusion in the undead. He thought Hunter would reply to his taunt, but he just stared back without any words.
He felt his body was getting cold even though he was dead already. The touch of death and darkness faded away with the sudden roar of the monsters.
He grabbed his sword, charging toward the hunter while thinking he would win the confrontation. No one anticipated that he would be defeated in a mere minute even though he was a high-ranking undead that was blessed by the king of death.
The knives went through his body like it was cutting butter and pulled him toward the hunter who was standing on the water without any expression. The hunter grabbed him by his neck and pulled him down to the ocean where he swam like a speeding bullet. There was no way that the undead could stop him at this point.
The water constantly got into his body and pressure kept crushing bones which gave him endless pain that couldn't be stopped. He felt like he was in hell and being tortured for his sins.
There was no way he could speak and he could only gaze at the hunter who kept dragging him down. The light got dimmer and dimmer as they entered the zone that no humans reached before. Even merfolks avoided the deep, knowing countless monsters are waiting for them to eat them.
The deep monsters had high tenacity despite their low intelligence and it was practically impossible to kill them unless they have demi-God or Saint rank experts.
Screech, burst*
The hunter threw him to the area where it had an air pocket inside. His cold blue eyes stayed on his body like it was expecting something from him.
" That was a bit hardcore greeting, don't you think?"
The young man said lightly, choking water out from his lungs. He understood he was no match for him and they were in the deep, so logically it was impossible to defeat him, but he had an edge over him which was his immortality.
" Why don't you talk? Did the deep cut out your tongue or monsters eat your tongue?"
The young man smiled coldly, knowing he had a slim chance. Therefore, he had to anger him and use that time to escape from him. However, he miscalculated one thing.
" If you are thinking I would get angry over this, you should stop doing that. I have already lost my name as I became Hasta of Deep. I hunt down those who dare to disrupt the balance of the ocean and you became one of my goals."
Hasta mentioned his goal for the first time, showing a list filled with names. The young man saw the lines on the names which indicated they were killed by Hasta before their encounter. The list was obviously a magic item, hence there was no way to tell how long it was and how burdensome it was to carry something like this.
" Do you want to kill me, your former colleague? We used to fight for our king and you used to be a navy commander."
He said calmly, believing he could persuade or hinder him for a moment.
" Is that your last word?"
Hasta instantly got before him, stabbing him with his knives that burned his soul. He screamed with pain and agony, but no one could hear his cry of despair as his voice was devoured by the darkness. He tried to grab Hasta with his hand, corrupting his clothes even so, Hasta didn't flinch.
" Your meaningless attempt can not stop me. Return to the embrace of death."
He whispered, turning him into a corpse. He didn't move after a minute, slowly fading into darkness. The deep claimed his body and death finally harvested his soul.
" Do you regret killing him? He was linked to your past after all."
A voice came inside his head without any notice. The deep was directly having a conversation with him through telepathy.
" I don't want to mix with my past. Their greed caused their fall and I belong here."
Hasta said, showing determination in his eyes.
