Chapter 19: Son, I’m Sorry

Victor POV

“I said no, mom,” I relayed flatly to my mother over the phone.

“Victor, your place is at home, not in some cabin that is locked away from civilization. I miss having you here.”

“Then you can come and visit me here,” I expressed coolly.

“I want you at home, where you belong, with your family. I don’t understand why you won’t just come back.”

I sighed, running a tired hand over my face. This had been the fourth time this week she had called me asking me to come home—it was only Tuesday.

“You know why mom,” I looked out the window, “I’m happy here and dad is happy I’m here. We don’t get on each other’s nerves and we can live peaceful lives.”

“No, he’s not. He wants you at home just as much as I do,” my mother said sternly.
