Victor POV
Where was Tara? She was running late. That wasn’t like her.
I picked up my phone to call her and see if she was okay. As soon as I dialed her number, I heard a phone buzzing under a pillow on my bed.
Tossing the pillow aside, I found Tara’s phone.
A fond smile tugged at my lips as I picked up her phone. I saw my name on her phone screen with a little heart emoji next to it.
That was my Tara.
Without her phone, I couldn’t get in touch with her.
Still, I had this feeling in my stomach, like a stone swirling around boring a hole. Something wasn’t right.
Maybe it was a strong emotion Tara was having or maybe it was just me worrying about her. She was late and didn’t have her phone. That was a recipe for disaster.
There was a chance someone else knew where Tara was. She’d been out getting food. Someone had to have seen her.
I waited a few more minutes, just in case I was being paranoid. When Tara still didn’t come back, I knew I needed to go find her.
