Chapter 57: Burn My Desire, And My Enemies

Tara’s POV

I opened my blurry eyes to see Victor standing in front of me. The two wolves who had been attacking me were thrown away, their bodies lying on the forest ground now among the twigs and broken branches from the explosion. I coughed as I stood up, and Victor held onto my arm to steady me, but never took his eyes off of the two wolves in front of us.

I took a long look at the two wolves that were laying in front of us now, they were definitely from our pack—but why did they attack me like that? Did they hate me that much?

I felt Victor let go of my arm the minute he knew I was alright to stand on my own, and then he walked closer to the two wolves still lying on the ground in front of him. They were still reeling from the force of Victor’s push, and neither of them tried to stand up despite how close he was getting to them.

I stayed behind Victor where he had left me, wondering what he might do, and also not daring to get in the way just yet.
