Chapter 62: An Anger Like A Vice

Tara’s POV

“I already did,” he said. “There’s only one solution.”

I turned to Victor with a confused expression, about to open my mouth and ask him what he meant by that. But before I could, I felt his hand on my arm, pushing me to the side slightly as he moved forward and grabbed both of the golden chalices from where they sat on the table.

And then, I watched as he poured the contents of one into another and drank the entire thing down. My eyes widened, and I let out a gasp before I rushed towards him and knocked the chalice out of his hand.

But the chalice that fell to the ground was empty, and Victor’s mouth was wet from where he had swallowed down the contents of both his and my chalice. I took hold of his face as I stared at him with wide eyes.

“What did you—Victor, no, no what did you do!” I turned from him to the examiner, “When does the poison take effect? How long! We have to redo this, we were both meant to take one each!”
