Chapter 63: A Human’s Desperation

Tara’s POV

I found myself in my room the next day, massaging at the temples on my head in an attempt to stave off an oncoming headache. It was unlike us wolves to get these sorts of things; headaches, colds, the common flu were never things we had had to worry about before. But unlike before, we never had to deal with a curse being upon us.

I still couldn’t shake off the feeling I had gotten during the second trial, when I had felt something overtake me like my shield as the anger rose and rose and rose up in my chest. I still felt it sometimes when I thought about it, could still feel it lick at my insides like some sort of flame that hadn’t been quite put out.

It worried me, I wasn’t above saying that, I wasn’t above saying that I was beyond terrified about this entire ordeal. The curse, the trials, h*ll, even the way Victor was acting lately all worried me to death. Even more so, what worried me most of all, was the way I felt when I had stared down at that examiner.
