Chapter 100: Communication Challenges

Tara’s POV

“Jack?” Kate laughed as she stared at me, her eyes wide when I affirmed.

“Did you know him?”

She nodded her head.

“We went to school together. He left early though to take care of some things for the pack. His father never wanted him to pursue anything else besides pack business.”

“What did he want to do?”

Kate smiled at my question, and rolled her eyes as she responded.

“He wanted to be a painter. For as long as I’d known him, he was always dabbling with it: oils, waters, you name it. I’d often find him on the cliff near our cottage just… painting out the sunsets. I asked him once how many times one person could paint the sunset.”

“What did he say?”

She scoffed out a laugh. “As long as you love it.”

My head tilted as I regarded her. “You two seem like you were close, no?”

“No, not really. Ah, maybe. One of those… what do you kids call it… wrong place, wrong time?”

I felt my brows pull together for a moment. “Right person, wrong time?”
