Chapter 115: The Shimmering Lake, Again

Tara’s POV

I watched Victor as his eyes moved over me, fluttering and fleeting, as he helped me take off my jacket, then my sweater, then my pants. The air was warm around us and I felt the soft breeze hit me. Despite the warmth, the goosebumps riddled my skin as he traced his hands from my shoulders down my arms, and then finally stopped at my hands.

He pulled me towars him then, further toward the lake that I knew would be cold despite the warm weather.

“Victor,” I whined out, not wanting to go into the cold water.

But the way he turned and smiled at me—his hair falling into his eyes and his teeth glinting in a cat-like smile—I found myself too entranced by him to notice that I was already stepping into the water.

There was something different about Victor tonight. Something strange.
