Chapter 117: Our Time Is Running Out

Tara’s POV

My back was turned to Siduis as he spoke—there was something in the air that made me freeze, there was something in the tone of his voice that made me pause. I knew well enough from what I had learnt in the past not to trust a wolf backed up against the wall, but I, too, was a wolf backed up against the wall.

Maybe that's why I didn't leave until much later on that night. Maybe if I had just left them and not turned around back to face him, there were certain things that would not have happened. But I turned around.

There was this glint in his eyes I don't think I'd ever seen before in anybody else's, I don't think I would ever want to see it again. But there was also something about the way that he was looking at me that told me that he knew things that I needed to know too. So when I turned around, I also walked forward.
