Chapter 141: A Chill Up My Spine

Tara’s POV

I could feel the rain wrapping around me begin to chill my bones.

My teeth clattered together as I brought my arms to wrap around myself. It did nothing to stave off the coldness that the wind was wringing from the world now. It felt like I needed more than just to get out of the rain to escape the chill that had climbed up my spine.

I could still see Victor from where he had been raging, his anger uncontainable as he grolwed and cursed Sidus’ name. I didn’t know what to think in that moment—in fact, I thought that if I had any other thought besides the presence of the cold, hard rain pelting on my skin, that I might start crying.

I felt that I might start cursing as well, just like Victor did, but my anger would be directed toward him. I didn’t know why. I tried to tell myself that what Sidus had said wasn’t true. That Sidus had barely said anything, really, before jumping into that frozen lake beneath us. What—who was he to bring Victor’s honor into question?
