Chapter 142: Lies and Deception

Victor’s POV

I was sitting in my office when Alexandria burst in.

I could sense her frustration from a mile away, the tension fogging up the air as I glanced around the room. Axel seemed to sense the storm as well, because he turned to look at me with a questioning, nervous gaze before he went back to focusing what was in front of him.

“Do you think she’s angry?” he mumbled sarcastically.

“I think she might be a tad on the frustrated side.”

Her eyes were ablaze and her breathing heavy.

From her demeanor, I could tell she had come back from wherever Tara was. Tara had this way of leaving her trace on people, and Alexandria looked as though she had seen the moon explode.

“I don’t like lying to her,” Alexandria said as soon as she entered the office.

“Technically,” Axel began, probably unhelpfully. “You aren’t lying to her, you’re betraying her.”

“Thank you,” Alexandria snapped at the man. “No, really, because that was so helpful and necessary to add, right?”
