Chapter 150: The End Of All Things

Victor’s POV

My entire body felt as though it were on fire, and dunked in the coldest part of the world all the same. I had never felt pain so excruciating and so inherently my own. I wondered, for a short moment, if this is what Tara felt when she saw Alexandria and I that day in her bed.

In my palms, I could see my own blood, and I didn’t know whether it was from coughing it up or scratching at them.

It wasn’t enough.

I tried to distract myself with the memories, with the fresh images of Tara’s face that I still had dangling around in my brain. I tried to remember what she smelled like, but the broken bed on the side of the room held no more trace of her in it.

Alexandria’s own scent had done a good job of overshadowing Tara’s. We had done that intentionally, I know, but it had angered me so much to the point that I had ripped through the bedding and the mattress and tore the thing in two.
