Chapter 165: A Corrupted Song

Victor’s POV

“Who was that?”

I could talk now. The butterfly woman shook her head at me.

“Her future.”

“What?” I asked. “You’re speaking in words I can’t understand.”

I didn’t know why, but I felt the inkling that the woman was smiling beneath the butterfly on her face. She moved and didn’t move all at the same time. A trail of visages followed until it stopped, like a movie rendering slowly in front of me.

And then we weren’t outside anymore—we were back in the room where Natalie was. She wasn’t crying, and the skin that was falling from her body due to the flames around her had finished turning from dust to particles.

Only half of her face was there now, yet golden dust lingered where the features had been, creating a silhouette of a woman. She was crying golden and flames.

“What have you done?” she asked the three women in front of her. “Do you have any idea what this will do for the wolves? For our species?”
