Soon after, they reached Olivia's apartment.
"Let's go!" Olivia said in a hurry after she saw Zarah's heavily bleeding.
"Relax. It's just my shoulder. It's not going to kill me." Zarah calmly said.
"Don't ever say that again!" Olivia snapped.
Meanwhile, the police and the fire department came a little too late.
The fire had spread throughout the entire third floor.
The employees had safely evacuated all of the guests from the building.
The Gil family was pretty devastated after learning the news. Gil Hotel was their first business under Gil Corporation.
Therefore, the hotel had a soft spot for them.
Meanwhile, Kelsey had prepared the first aid and everything Zarah needed.
They needed no doctor as they were self-sufficient.
They had learned to tend to each other's wounds in the past. Kelsey was their designated nurse in the group during missions.
Kelsey prepared sterilized equipment before she started operating Zarah.
"This is not right. We should make sure that the bullet did not hit your shoulder." Kelsey protested.
It had been a long time since she had done this. Yes, she had earned a two-year associate nursing degree diploma before law school.
However, she was not a registered nurse yet.
She knew she was compromising her career as a lawyer, too.
What she was doing was against the law.
Nervousness probably had hit her.
However, this was Zarah. She had to help her.
"If you're afraid, leave." Zarah shut her off.
Zarah didn't know what had gotten into her.
Perhaps she had not snapped out of her other side yet. It had been a long time since this persona had resurfaced.
So she found it hard to adjust.
Kesley shut her mouth. However, Olivia finally snapped.
"Zaza! Can you behave? Kelsey's only worried for you. Can't you see? You're bleeding heavily, yet you're being selfish."
"Out!" Zarah snapped.
Kelsey felt lost for a moment.
"Out? Let me remind you, this is my apartment!"
"Fine!" Zarah got up and was about to leave when Kelsey interrupted.
"No! No one is going to leave!" She yelled.
"It's dangerous outside!" she added.
Her sudden outburst managed to get their attention.
"So, can we all calm down? And Zarah, I'm not afraid. I'm only worried that I would mess this up. It had been a long time since I'd done this. I need imaging, at least."
"There's no need for imaging. Trust your instinct. You know the drill."
As long as she took out the bullet, everything would be fine.
Kelsey calmed herself, and she started the operation.
"I need proper lighting here." She told Olivia, who became her assistant for this operation.
"We don't have anesthesia."
"It's fine. I can bear it."
"Liv, we need blood. Zarah's pale. I think she had lost a lot of blood," Kelsey told her.
"I'll call Trixie for that."
"Okay!"
Trixie, who was at the bar, hurriedly left as soon as she received the news.
She went to the blood bank to get Zarah's AB-negative blood. Kelsey also instructed Trixie to grab medications for Zarah.
Zarah might get an infection. It was not uncommon. A bullet injured her, and the room was non-sterile.
"Why were you after those people?" Olivia started her interrogation.
"When we were heading to the courthouse for the trial, someone tried to kill my husband. I managed to track the snipers and found them at Gil Hotel."
"Oh my gosh! Is he okay?"
"The idiot managed to hide his injury from me. He barely survived after the operation." Zarah was still bitter about what Xavier had done.
Zarah ignored what Kelsey was doing to her shoulder.
"You're upset. That's why you went on a suicide mission."
Zarah didn't say anything.
She was upset because she failed to protect Xavier. She felt like a failure.
"I was there," she mumbled.
Kelsey managed to recover the bullet from Zarah's shoulder.
She tossed it on the pan before she started cleaning the wound.
Olivia gave her the cotton and bandages to clean the blood.
Zarah's face became so pale. She also felt drowsy.
"Hang in there, Alpha!" Kelsey said in alarm.
"What's going on?!" Olivia panicked, too.
"She was losing too much blood," Kelsey explained.
Zarah needed a blood transfusion as soon as possible.
Trixie had not arrived yet.
"Then, let us hurry and close the incision."
"I'm on it."
Trixie finally arrived with her friend, who was a doctor. She bumped into Trixie at the blood bank.
She was a surgeon at the hospital and was on vacation.
She was worried that something would happen to Zarah. So she decided to bring her along.
"Oh my gosh, Arah! Liv told me everything." Trixie cried in panic.
"I'm fine. I'm just bleeding. That's it." Zarah said calmly.
When the doctor arrived, Kelsey was stunned.
"Thea?"
"Do you know each other?" the twins asked.
"Yes."
"Then that's good! She can understand our situation." Olivia said.
"Tell me what happened," Dr. Thea Aldrich demanded.
Kelsey and Thea stepped aside to have a private conversation.
Zarah was half-conscious when Trixie barged inside the room.
"Liv, please go and monitor the situation now."
Zarah could see the reluctance on Olivia's face.
"Please." She desperately wanted to know what was going on after she left.
"Okay." Olivie agreed reluctantly.
After Olivia left, Zarah looked at Kelsey and then at Thea.
"Can I trust you?" she asked Thea.
"You can trust me," Thea responded.
"Okay. You may take over. Don't blame Kelsey for this. I insisted on not being brought to the hospital." Zarah said weakly.
She could hear the little argument they had when they talked.
Dr. Thea Aldrich went to check Kelsey's work. Kelsey sutured the incision neatly.
Thea was surprised that Zarah was not grimacing in pain despite being without anesthesia.
Other than being weak, she could carry on the conversation.
Dr. Aldrich thought that Zarah was a living miracle.
"Kelsey, I might be in trouble with the police this time," Zarah warned her.
Zarah had left her DNA at the crime scene. Her blood was on the carpet.
"Did you manage to profile them?" Trixie asked her.
"No. I didn't identify which gang or mafia house they belonged to. I can't find their names in the international registry."
She failed to see their marks on the body, too. The room was dark. Also, she had to kill them. Her thirst for blood overwhelmed her.
"Perhaps, they're new members?" Kelsey asked.
Zarah nodded her head and added. "They were here for a vacation. Someone booked them here."
"Do you know who?" Trixie continued asking.
"Their main target is my husband. There's only one person I know who can do this."
Zarah smiled coldly, which sent shivers down everyone's spine.
"May I know the name so we can start haunting?"
"She's in prison."
"In prison?" Kelsey and Trixie asked in unison.
"Carla Kent," Zarah confessed.
There's no other person she could think of who had enough hatred for Xavier.
Carla Kent managed to live for many years without getting caught. Therefore, she was not an easy opponent.
Instantly, Trixie gasped in shock and said, "Commissioner Wagner's watching her, right? I doubt she can pay those people when she's locked up."
Meanwhile, Kelsey felt complicated. She had a rough guess on who was Carla Kent's aid this time.
"Brother-in-law must have had other enemies, not just Carla Kent." Trixie continued.
"Perhaps you're right. However, my intuition says I'm right, too. I'm sure Carla Kent is related to this incident."
What urged Zarah was the malice in Carla Kent's eyes during the trial earlier.
If looks could kill, Xavier should be dead when he stepped out of the witness stand.
"That's why I told you someone's probably doing this for her. I might need to request the names of the people she had seen these past few weeks." Zarah added.
"I'll do it for you. I'll talk to Commissioner Wagner," Trixie said and was about to leave.
"No. Don't involve Jackson in this case. Or else, they'll suspect that I know something." Zarah protested.
"Well, you have to get him on our side if you don't want to be in trouble." Trixie sighed in helplessness.
"Listen, Arah. I know you're afraid that Xavier would know about this. However, I think it's best if you will not keep him in the dark. He's the target. The both of you can protect each other that way."
Zarah felt like she was going to have a headache. Therefore, she shoed them away in annoyance.
Trixie smiled as Zarah finally listened to her.
"I'll go now," Trixie said while dragging Kelsey away.
Outside the room, Kelsey asked Trixie about Zarah's husband.
"What is his name?"
"I'm sorry?" Trixie asked as she had no idea.
"Commander's husband. What is his name?" Kelsey clarified her question.
"Xavier Lockhart. He's the Chairman of Stevens Group." Trixie innocently replied.
Another popped inside Kelsey's mind.
"Lockhart? Is he related to Dylan Lockhart?"
"They're cousins. Anyways I have to go." Trixie said and left.
Kelsey was left alone in the hallway.
Back in the room, Zarah looked at Thea.
"Thea, I know you're worried about the complications. Don't worry, nothing like that will happen," Zarah reassured.
Zarah won't let those people who helped her to suffer.
Thea smiled awkwardly.
