Chapter 94: Punishing Nancy

After the operation, Xavier finally woke up when the anesthesia went off.

He got up into a sitting position and looked around. Then, he started pulling out the IV drip from his hand and the tubes connected to his body.

Dr. Tristan Miller entered the room to check on him. However, he was surprised to see him standing on the floor.

He looked completely normal other than his pale complexion.

"Master!" Tristan cried in panic. He rushed to stop Xavier from leaving.

"Out of the way," Xavier said.

"Your wound is not completely healed. You can't leave this room as you wish."

"I don't need your lecture, Tristan," Xavier said and pushed him aside.

Xavier wanted to see his wife. He knew what he did must have worried her.

He wanted to apologize to her.

Xavier left the room and headed to their bedroom.

Vince, Nancy, Rupert, and Chris were in the next room. They were talking about their next plan.

They had to look for the culprit and make them pay.

Chris' team was hacking all the CCTV cameras nearby the courthouse. They had been watching the people leaving every building after the shootout incident. Yet, they failed to find them.

Chris was waiting for their update.

Rupert was also waiting for the police investigation from Jackson.

The members of the special forces had returned from their investigation empty-handed.

Jackson felt his head was about to explode.

He was going to call Rupert when his phone rang first.

The caller was unregistered.

He saw the message notification from the same number.

He decided to read the message first before answering the call.

It was Trixie.

So he decided to return the call.

"Hello?"

"Commissioner Wagner," Trixie answered from the other line.

"Just call me Jackson, Miss Irving."

"Just call me Trixie, Jackson."

They had met a couple of times, thanks to Xavier and Zarah. However, they had never communicated personally.

Trixie got his phone number because he gave her his calling card out of courtesy.

"Is there a problem, Trixie?"

"Arah-- I mean, Zarah wants to ask a favor."

"What favor? Wait, why are you calling instead of her? What happened?" Jackson thought it was bizarre.

Trixie decided to tell Jackson about what happened to Zarah.

As expected, Jackson was shocked.

"Did I hear you properly? She managed to track and kill the mercenaries. Is that what you're trying to tell me?" Jackson asked to make sure he did not have a hearing defect.

"Yes. Arah left them at Gil Hotel."

"You're not going to arrest her, are you?" Trixie's question caught him off guard.

Zarah committed a crime. Therefore, it was right to arrest her.

However, Zarah was Xavier's wife. She was his second boss.

He didn't expect that she could be as cold as Xavier.

"No. No one will arrest Zarah. She helped us track the mercenaries. I heard Master was even in danger now."

"That's great to hear. Anyways. Arah wanted needs your help other than that."

"Tell me what Mistress needs."

"She wanted to have the list of people who visited Carla Kent ever since she was in jail."

"Okay. I'll do that. Expect an email after thirty minutes." Jackson said firmly.

"Ahm. Is Mistress fine?"

"Aside from losing blood, she's resting in my room."

Jackson frowned. He was expecting Zarah to be in a hospital and not in Trixie's room.

"She's not in the hospital?"

"No. Arah hated hospitals. I mean, we all do."

Jackson disliked the hospitals, too.

***

It was not a happy place to stay.

"Who's treating her?"

"A doctor friend of mine is monitoring her condition."

"Should something happen, don't hesitate to bring her to the hospital, okay?"

"We know. However, don't worry. Arah's more than safe here. And if you could, please don't tell brother-in-law yet. Arah's not ready for him to know."

Jackson felt complicated.

"Just make an alibi," Trixie said with a cute voice.

"Okay. I'll try. However, I will not promise that I can hide this news from Master that long."

Xavier disliked it when his subordinate would conceal something from him.

Any relationships built without trust were worthless.

"Okay."

Trixie knew that he was making a compromise.

He would always be loyal to Xavier no matter what.

"Thank you, Jackson."

Meanwhile, Xavier was about to enter his room when Chris saw him.

"Master! Where the h*ll are you going?"

"I need to go to my wife. She's waiting for me." Xavier said.

Chris looked at Xavier awkwardly.

Xavier saw this and asked him immediately.

"Speak."

"The Missus is upset because of what you did, Master. I don't think it's the right time to talk to her."

"She's here, am I right?"

Xavier asked because he could feel Zarah's presence during the operation.

He dreamed of her lips against his. He subconsciously drew his hand to touch his lips. However, he frowned when he felt pain.

That was when he realized Zarah was there.

"Where is she?"

"Yes, she was here. We don't know how, but Mistress seemed to have discovered your injury. Elliott had driven the car for her."

"She left?" Xavier's forehead creased.

Nancy, Vince, Rupert, and Tristan approached them.

"Master! I'm glad that you have woken up! We thought that b*tch had killed you," Nancy said.

Her harsh remarks about Zarah didn't settle well with her colleagues.

She didn't realize that they make a few steps away from her.

They didn't want Xavier to misunderstand them because of her statement.

Other than Tristan, Vince and Rupert were shaking their heads.

"Since when did you learn to disrespect me, Nancy?" Xavier coldly asked her.

***

Of course, he recognized that she was referring to Zarah.

Nancy was stunned by Xavier's question.

She shivered when she felt Xavier's cold gaze.

She wanted to ask for help from Vince, but the latter was avoiding eye contact.

"Master, I'm sorry. However, I don't commend how she behaved during your surgery." Nancy tried to explain.

Xavier decided to approach Nancy before he continued talking to her.

He thought that he was not loud enough when he told them before.

"My Zarah is my bottom line. Disrespecting her is disrespecting me."

"But she almost got you killed! Had it not been for Tristan, --" Nancy wanted to continue defending herself. However, Xavier cut her off coldly.

"Do you still want to work with me, Miss Maxwell?" Xavier warned her.

Nancy felt her feet frozen, but her knees turned to jelly when he said that.

"Of course! I love to work with you," she managed to say it.

"Then, I do not want to hear any prejudice about my wife from your mouth."

Nancy nodded on the surface, but she was cursing Zarah inside.

Vince had interfered this time.

"I'm sorry, Master. Nancy is now aware of her mistakes," Vince said.

"I'm sorry, Master." Nancy felt compelled to apologize. Xavier didn't need her forced apology.

"I do not need to hear your forced apology, Miss Maxwell." Xavier spat. Then, Xavier looked at Rupert.

"Rupert, send her to Sahara Dessert tomorrow. Pick her up after ninety days. Should she survive, I'll think about letting her stay with my wife or not." Xavier said every word coldly.

Nancy's eyes widened in shock when she heard the place. Sending her to that place was like a death sentence.

Her face turned pale.

No woman could survive in that place.

All the affection she had for Xavier vanished instantly. She regretted liking this man.

She had seen this man punish his disloyal subordinate. However, she never expected to be on the short end of the stick.

"Master, please reconsider." Vince pleaded for her.

"Do you want to join her?" Xavier threatened to Vince's horror. He had no other choice but to retreat.

He had been warning Nancy to watch her mouth. She didn't take her advice seriously.

She had brought this upon herself.

"Master, why don't we wait for Missus' decision about this matter?" Chris intervened.

Xavier looked at his assistant in silence.

"Missus might want to punish her herself. Nancy offended her while Master made Missus upset."

"Get to the point, Chris."

"I'm sure Missus would want to vent her anger and frustration. Allowing Missus to punish Nancy could make her feel better."

Xavier gave Chris' suggestion a thought.

"Okay. Lock Miss Maxwell up first until my wife gives her punishment."

Xavier's men showed up and dragged Nancy away.

Vince felt helpless as he failed to protect her.

She did not make a fuss. She knew it was useless. It was rare to make Xavier change his mind.

Xavier then entered the room after he said that.

"Master, please go-." Dr. Miller wanted to stop him from entering the room, but Rupert stopped him.

"Why don't we come with him? Master cared for Mrs. Lockhart so much. He won't listen to anyone," Rupert said.

"Then, Master is smitten with that woman," Tristan commented.

For Tristan, it was not a good thing that Xavier allowed a woman to control his emotions.

"Love can make any rational man irrational. However, we should not forget that we are here for the Master's happiness. Our Master had suffered a lot. Therefore, we should protect the person who makes him happy." Chris added.

Rupert then looked at Vince and said, "I know you felt pity for Nancy. Let's hope that Missus is more forgiving than Master."

Rupert was about to continue, but his phone rang.

He checked on who the caller was, and it was Julie.

Julie was worried as Zarah was not home yet. Her phone was also off. So she called Rupert to ask if Zarah was with them.

"No. Zarah's not here. Are you sure she's not in the mansion?" Rupert asked Julie.

"No. Mistress is not here." Julie firmly said.

Rupert frowned when he heard it.

"What's going on?" Chris asked Rupert.

"Have you seen Zarah when she left?" Rupert asked him back.

"Yes. I talked to Zarah. She borrowed Master's motorcycle. I wanted to drive her home, but she didn't listen."

Rupert felt that Zarah might be in trouble.

"Every time she borrowed Master's motorcycle, she would do something reckless," Rupert told Julie and rushed back to the room.
