Crocodile?

David spread out a checkered cloth—red and white—and made Chloe sit down, then took out the food that was on the bed.

"You prepared all of this too?" Chloe asked in disbelief.

"I'd love to, but it's impossible," David grinned.

Chloe laughed, David wasn't very good at cooking.

Chloe stretched her legs, enjoying the fresh weather and atmosphere while enjoying the delicious food that David brought. There is a small hill to the left of the river filled with trees. One of the beautiful things Chloe could enjoy there. She gasped in surprise when David suddenly fell asleep on her lap.

"This includes lover service," David said, grinning at Chloe. The girl let it stay like that.

"Do you always act like this to all the women you've dated?" The question just came out of Chloe's mouth.

David stared at Chloe for a long time before answering. "No, you're the only girl I treat gently, if that's what you want to hear." David smirked.

"Oh really?" Chloe sneered in disbelief.

"You doubt me?" asked David, "I'm sure you believe everything I say. You're just too scared to admit it." He looked into Chloe's eyes.

"I'm not," Chloe looked away, not daring to look into David's blue eyes.

"It's up to you to admit it or not. One day you will realize what really matters to you," said David. He saw the change in expression on Chloe's face. He stood up, then looked at Chloe. "Some girls say I'm cool in every way. I'll show it to you in one day."

"Oh yes? How do you do it, David," Chloe challenged.

"You challenge me?" David smirked. "See how you're going to be fascinated by me."

David took Chloe to show her a white canoe —a small boat, beside which a middle-aged man stood hunched over when they came.

"Are you sure you don't need someone to paddle the canoe?" asked the middle-aged man, who had a thick beard.

"Yes, just prepare what I ordered earlier," said David, kindly. The middle-aged man then left David and Chle, alone.

"What's this?" Chloe asked.

"Our transportation to explore this place," said David. He tried to find the look of displeasure on Chloe's face. "What do you think?"

"We won't know how interesting this is until we try it," said Chloe. "Are you going to ride it yourself?"

"Yes,"

"Are you sure?"

"We won't know until we try," David replied following Chloe's earlier words. The girl laughed bitterly.

The canoe rocked as Chloe climbed on it. After Chloe managed to sit on the support logs on the fore hull. David then got on board and sat opposite Chloe, then took a paddle and started to run his boat down the meramec river.

"This cool,"

"I still have a lot of cool things to show you, Chloe," said David.

"Doesn't this overwhelm you? Preparing all this just for my sake, I'm sure you are very busy taking care of all this, especially with your busy work."

"It seems the word 'only' is not the right word. You are a very precious person to me, Chloe. I will do anything for the woman I love to be happy."

Chloe stared at David for a long moment. She didn't know that she was so precious to David. Nor did she know that David treated her so well. Why did she only realize this now?

"Are you going to keep staring at me all the time with that look, Chloe?" David was pleased with Chloe's reaction.

Chloe restrained herself from faltering. She looked at David with a defiant expression. "I didn't know you had a big head, David."

David laughed. He reached into something in his bag, and pulled out a camera. "Want a photo together?"

"And fell into the water?"

"It's not a bad idea to swim with the crocodiles here. That sounds really interesting." He looked at Chloe who started to frown. "Should we give it a try?"

"C-crocodile? No kidding! You didn't tell me about crocodiles, David!" Chloe shouted. She surprise made the canoe she was riding in to sway. She two hands gripped the rim of the canoe very tightly.

"Don't worry, Chloe. We'll be safe as long as we're still on the boat."

"Stop kidding!" Chloe exclaimed. She glared at David. "Crocodiles are not something you should take lightly, David Black!"

"Are you scared?"

"No!"

"No? Admit it."

"I said th-"

"Behind you, Chloe!"

Suddenly Chloe screamed loudly. She jumped at David without noticing the canoe swaying almost to the side. She hugged David tightly, closing her eyes. The camera David was holding fell helplessly in the canoe.

David chuckled in amusement as Chloe's arms wrapped tightly around his neck. "Are you trying to tease me, sweetie?" whispered David, right in Chloe's ear.

Chloe looked up, seeing the mischievous grin on David's face. "You lie?!" she pushed David away roughly and sat back in her place.

"Think better, Chloe. There's no way there are crocodiles in a tourist spot like this. If there is, all visitors will not want to set foot here and swim comfortably, "said David, relaxed.

"This isn't funny at all, David!"

"It's funny because I can see the look of fear on your face that I rarely see."

Chloe scowled. Turn your face the other way.

David took off the shirt and t-shirt he was wearing and took them off. He then jumped into the water and approached the canoe.

"David, what are you doing?" Chloe shrieked. She still couldn't shake her fear of crocodiles even though it was just a joke David had told.

"Swim," said David, "wait here. I will be right back."

Chloe held her breath as she watched David begin to dive. No matter what David was trying to do, Chloe was still worried if something happened to her. Especially if there really is a crocodile in the river.

"Don't be silly, Chloe. It was just a joke. David will be fine," she told himself.

David dived too long. The man didn't come up and started to make Chloe panic. Chloe shrieked, screaming David's name very loudly.

Suddenly David's head popped out of the water. Her breath hitched and her wet naked body glistened in the sun.
