Meet David

A routine that somehow made Chloe feel bored. Chloe often daydreams and is caught staring at David's number on the screen. When her friends asked what happened, Chloe just shook her head in response. She didn't even know what she wanted to do.

Chloe put her phone in her bag. Go and tell her friends if she has work to do. The girl chose to be alone in a quiet library without many people. Sit at one of the tables and reflect again.

It's been over a week. And Chloe couldn't deny that she really missed David. The man always appeared in her mind, even without being asked herself. Appears like a ghost and disappears without permission. It really made Chloe feel uneasy.

Sometimes, Chloe cursed David's photo with all the harsh words she had. Swearing, hitting, even kicking everything around him. Including some of the things, David had bought for him. It all made Chloe feel angry and annoyed every time she saw it.

However, there is not one thing that makes her heart always tremble. One tiny thing that David somehow got on their date some time ago. Chloe always keeps it. Carry her everywhere and she will look at it every time she misses David.

"David..." One word and one name came out of Chloe's tiny lips. her heart immediately rumbled. Thousands of memories of the two of them swirled through Chloe's mind. When they were together when they were very small to adults. How did David look when he confessed his love to her on the beach? His attitude was so unexpected every time he faced her. And... And one little peck on her lips that Chloe will never forget how soft and warm David's lips were.

Yes. Somehow, every single thing about David made Chloe feel a strange feeling that was hard for her to understand. About how annoyed she was that she couldn't look David in the firm but gentle eyes. The boy's joke makes his anger subside.

Chloe missed every inch of David's figure. She missed so much that she didn't even realize she had pressed the call button for David's number, that a voice connected could be heard on the other end of the line.

"Chloe, is that you?" It was David's voice. Very slowly and Chloe had missed so much since days ago.

Chloe was silent. Stunned by David's soft voice on the other end of the phone, she couldn't even respond to the man's call.

"Oh, sorry. I think you made the wrong call. I'll turn it off…"

"David." Finally, Chloe's voice came out to say David's name. Her heart was as light as cotton after the heavy burden she had been carrying. "... It's me."

David's chuckle came from the other end of the phone. And that made Chloe's lips form a small smile.

"Yes, I know. Do you need anything?"

"No."

"What?"

"Yes. I mean yes, I need. I... I have a little problem..." Chloe said quickly.

Yes. Trouble missing you. Chloe thought to herself.

"Problem?"

Chloe was very sure if right now David was frowning.

"Y-yes, I thought only you could help me." Chloe felt so awkward speaking.

"Say it. If I can help you, I'll try to help."

Chloe was silent. Wondering what else to say.

"Chloe... Are you okay?"

"No. Uh, yes. Well." Chloe was silent for a moment. Thinking about his words again. "Erm… David… Can we meet, tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow?" David was silent for a moment. "I think I can."

"Oh, you can pick me up after I finish college. Do you want?"

"Okay. Tomorrow. Finished college. I understand."

"Ummm… Then, see you later, David."

"See you later, my little girl."

The phone line is dead.

Chloe was silent. Staring at the phone screen. And a split second. She was aware of the last words David had said just before hanging up the phone.

"My little girl," Chloe said quietly. Her lips formed a small smile. A pink hue colored her cheeks.

***

Chloe's heart couldn't stop beating since her last conversation with David that night. It was when David's signature voice said 'my little girl that made Chloe's cheeks turn red. At that moment, a part of Chloe screamed with joy and couldn't help but hug David's stout body the next time she saw him.

Chloe's enthusiasm increased many times in carrying out her activities that day. Feelings of pleasure, anxiety, and longing combined into one feeling that makes his heart always rumble. Chloe couldn't lie to herself that she really missed David, from the bottom of her heart.

When it's noon. Right after the last lecturer said goodbye to the light that Chloe didn't hear at all—because she was busy thinking about David— Chloe rushed out of the classroom. Tells her friends she's on business for a while. Chloe also had time to send a message to Allan not to wait for her and go home together.

A bit of tidying up hair and clothes. Chloe walked through the campus' main courtyard toward the gate. Standing there for a while, she saw a black luxury car stop right in front of her.

The car window is open. Chloe lowered her head slightly to see David's handsome face that she hadn't seen in a long time. Chloe told herself not to run into David's arms as the man walked out of the car and approached her. David was wearing a white shirt, the top two buttons left open. Shows a plain white t-shirt. The sleeves are folded up to the elbow. Those beautiful eyes looked at Chloe with a relaxed face.

"Hi," said David.

David looked much more different than Chloe had last remembered. "Hi," said Chloe, awkwardly. Her eyes looked at David's face which was covered with a thin mustache and beard. As if left like that or indeed the man was too lazy to take care of it. But, it makes David look more charming and cool.

David's brow furrowed, "Are you okay?" he asked worriedly. His eyes scanned Chloe's body from the ground up. Find out if anyone has hurtby the girl he loves. "Did something bad happen..."

"David, I want us to get out of here first before I tell you too much., Chloe asked. A low voice that was far from the harsh words David heard every day.

"Okay." David agreed. Then opened the car door and let Chloe in.

David circled the car and got inside. The corner of his eyes glanced at Chloe who was ready with eyes that showed that the girl was angry. And when the man drove the car. He caught the figure of a man standing motionless, staring at him sarcastically.

Ten minutes had passed since David and Chloe had left campus. There was only silence that accompanied them until at last David spoke.

"You can tell me your problem," said David. "Are you having a problem with your boyfriend?" David did not want to mention the name 'Allan'. Even if it sounds like a child. David was still annoyed and jealous of Allan.

"No. It's not a problem between me and Allan." Chloe said. She let her head turn to the side to look at David. "This… It's about…" her voice was drowned in doubt and she was afraid to express it. About the longing, she felt since she didn't meet David.

"What's this, Chloe?" David insisted. "Say, I'll try to help you. Whatever it is, as long as you feel better." He said sincerely.

"Is that true?" Chloe confirmed. David nodded firmly.

"Okay, where are we going?" David asked. A good place to express all one's complaints.

"I don't know."

David's eyebrows shot up. He knew Chloe's tone of voice suggested that she was frustrated. That he was in no mood to go anywhere or do anything at the moment.
