Carin's Thoughts

The major cities of Oto were clumped together close enough so that their supplementary barriers could support the main one around the capital. The surroundings consisted of wetlands that had been turned into rice paddies– a staple food of the country, and stretched out into simple marshes. The further you got from civilization, the more the landscape devolved back to its default state of dense foliage and forestry. Rune and his party had been moving through one such area for about half a day now, and the sun was beginning to set.

"Let's stop here for today," Carin said, halting her run and stopping at a clearing in the forest. She glanced back at Rune, who began to pant heavily after putting Luna down, and he was clearly exhausted. Even if they wanted to continue at this point, it just wouldn't be feasible.

"Haah haah haah." Long, heavy breaths escaped Rune's mouth as his lungs struggled for air

"Are you okay, Rune?" Luna asked, cupping his cheeks worriedly.
