Chapter 1.3: Unexpected Guest

Eliza stared at her secretary blankly, "Don't let this happen again."

James instantly knelt with his head on the ground, "I won't."

She casually dusted her coat and murmured, "It's only a few hours but it already feels like it's been a long day."

He bowed and left in a haste.

He knows me too well, she thought.

Eliza unlocked the doors and swung them open making a huge slam as she entered before it automatically closes. She noticed someone sitting on her swivel chair facing the big window, taking a look at the city.

"Is that how you welcome yourself?" A gentle voice queried.

"Is that how you visit someone?" Eli shot back.

Adrienne spun the high chair around now facing Eliza. Both of them have got no time for jokes because one is deadbeat serious while the other is in a hurry.

"Eliza Kim," Adrienne spoke with authority in her tone.

"Adrienne Park," Eliza uttered with a smirk, "To what do I owe this displeasure?"

Adrienne scoffed, "Have you heard about the new case that's worth a billion dollars?"

A new case that's worth a billion dollars, echoed through Eliza's mind mostly on the money part.

"I haven't but I get why you're here." Eliza made her way to the CEO's desk, HER desk, "Perhaps you're here for collaboration?"

"Maybe," Adrienne smirked, "Maybe not."

Eliza arrived in front of Adrienne and placed her hands on her chair, "I'm a busy woman, Drea."

"Oh, I know Liz," Adrienne said cheekily, "I'm just here to bet,"

"Bet?" Eliza implored, "We already know I'll win between us."

"True but," Adrienne softly pushed Eliza a bit as she stood up," Maybe you won't on this one."

"Dare me," Eliza sneered as she sat on her high chair.

Adrienne hummed as she sat on Eliza's lap then placed both her arms around Eliza's neck, "I bet you'll be needing a team."

With this, Eliza's pride surged, "I bet I can do it alone."

"No man is an island," Adrienne straightens Eliza's tie while Eliza can only stare at Adrienne's face.

Subtle as it may seem. Eliza has a crush on Adrienne. Ever since she started to play this game, Adrienne was there to introduce her around and made her stay whenever she wants to quit.

`Whipped dummy.`

"If I win, you'll get to date me," Adrienne grinned, "If you win, I'll choose who gets to date me."

"That's unfair," Eliza countered.

"Life is unfair, Kim." Adrienne asserted as she patted Eliza's shoulders and was about to get off Eliza's lap.

Unconsciously, Eliza pulled her back down. Both are surprised by the action. Little did Eliza know that Adrienne is having an identity crisis every time they are together. As the tension rises between them, a knock echoes around the room but still the two are unbothered.

Before Almira could know what happen next, she was already back in the real world with her shabby eyesight. She quickly reaches for her glasses at the side table and puts them on to find out one of her dorm mates has placed her VR glasses on their head like it's a crown.

"You weren't in a bad situation, right?" Midnight asked as she walk towards the door with Almira's glasses still on top of her head.

"No," Almira can only sigh and hope that nothing bad happened while she deals with this prick, "But you will be,"

"Head's up," Midnight threw the VR glasses to Almira's bed and was caught by Almira herself.

"You fox," Almira exclaimed before placing them on her side table.

With a naughty grin, Midnight swiftly dashed around their apartment and was drenched when she went outside. Almira was tired and the rain was pouring that she can only chase her from the inside.

"Pussy cat," Midnight yelled out adding fuel to Almira's rage.

Almira took her most precious umbrella and rushed towards Midnight almost touching her but Midnight dodged it and ran. And with that, the two are running around the front yard. While Yumi just got to the living room, still teary-eyed, saw the two and heard their bickering, making her smile.
