Chapter 1.4: Invitation Letter

"Why you..." He slammed his hands on the table.

Whistling a familiar tune, William strides inside the office then sang, "Rudolph, the red nose human, has a very shiny nose,"

As soon as Rudolph heard that, he turned his back on Majesty and faced the brother who is now dancing while snapping his fingers.

When bad comes to worse, somehow my brother is there on time, Majesty thought.

Majesty stifled a laugh as Rudolph stomped out of the office, red as a tomato. As usual, he didn't forget to bump into William's shoulder on the way out.

Now left alone, the chaotic duo laughed aloud and did a high five.

"He's going nuts," William said between laughs, "I think Santa needs to take him to the hospital before taking him back to the North pole."

Majesty, being always the first to get back to serious mode, cleared her throat, "We're gonna be in so much trouble because of this."

"We always get our way, anyway," William, still a bit giddy, checked the files on the table, "Any interesting case?"

Majesty shook her head, "Not a single one."

These two may be crackheads but are actually the best secret agents of this headquarter.

"Before I forget," William threw the envelope to Majesty like a card, "An invitation."

Majesty caught the envelope and examined it, "From who?"

"No idea," He answered as he opens one of the files, "Saw it in your locker."

"You better not have taken any of my stuff," Majesty probed her brother.

William scoffed, "It's not my fault you have my favorite hairspray," He then flipped his hair, "If one of us is getting an invitation for a date, it would be me."

"Yeah, yeah," Majesty nonchalantly replied as she read the letter found inside the envelope.

"So, is it a date?" William asked, his focus still on the file in his hands.

Majesty's aura dims as she folded the letter back into the envelope, "The Fallen Star case is the highest paying case of this game, right?"

"Yep," William responded, "Speaking of, do you want to team up with me?"

There was no response so William added while playing with the folder, "You know like the usual, and I know you are already so done with me but---"

William shut up after he noticed that Majesty have disappeared but he was even more surprised as he saw the envelope burned to ashes.

Midnight, now back in the real world, immediately threw her VR glasses away. Not caring if it gets scratched or broken, she passed by it and went out of her room.

Deciding to take a stroll around the apartment complex to calm herself down, she went to the fridge first because she was thirsty and hungry. She took a soda and some leftover pizza she shared with her dormmates.
