The Marriage Agreement

"Now I know why your family kept you from the public. Your beauty would make men all over the country seek you out," While Ahmir Clive stood in the middle of the room with some sort of complacency that Amina could only assume was because he did a good job of finding himself a wife that would not disgrace him, she stood a few feet from him with face flushed and in disbelief.

Amina's feet refuse to move from where she stood. Even if she wanted to take a step forward and seek support from one of the armchairs in the room in case her buckling knees would fail her, her feet refused to move. She didn't even want to. She would rather and would happily take a step back and leave the proud man in the room and never see him again. She is certain that her feet would happily take her away from him.
