The Phone Call

On the other side of the mansion, a man walked out of his bedroom. He looked left and right as if he would see any living soul wandering the hallway of the mansion in the middle of the night. But he was certain that he wouldn't see anyone. Though rich, he knew that the Hawthornes did not allow their employees to work overtime. Once the clock strikes ten, all their household employees are supposed to rest and they do not give them anything to work on. If there is anything they need beyond ten, they are the ones who should do it. They will not bother their employees.

The hallway of the mansion looked deserted. But though it was old, it didn't look haunted.  It was past midnight so he knew that he wouldn't be seeing anyone or wouldn't be seen by anyone.
