Chapter 31 - Returning Home

While skimming through the books that the shelves had to offer, she came across a book that suddenly piqued her interest— the name alone made her wish to read it.

'Illusions and Mental Magic by Rimirow Wilston'

Not only did the book include part of what she was looking for, illusions, but it also introduced her to a type of magic she found interesting but completely forgot about.

Mental Magic, or in other words, magic that had to do with the aspect of the mind.

It was a type of magic that was off-handedly used in the movies and never truly had the chance to shine as far as she could remember.

Sure they showed it being able to block people from reading your minds, allow you to read people's minds, and even create a mental library to improve your mind, but that seemed so little for an aspect so massive.

An aspect that could do anything— literally the mind was the limit for it.

Picking up the book she ran her palm over the black and yellow cover of the book and took note of the Author's name.

Rimirow Wilston— it was a name that wasn't mentioned once in any of the movies, and to her knowledge the books.

And while it could also be something she had forgotten. Her instincts led her more to believe that it wasn't mentioned in the movies, and was rather a new thing in this world.

Plus, she would remember such an odd-sounding name if it was spoken in the movies.

Flipping the book over to the back, there was no image of the author, unlike some other books that dealt with research. There was only a short passage that spoke about the book, from the author.

'Illusions, a forgotten aspect of magic that has laid without truly shining for years— merely thought about as nothing but party tricks. Mental Magic, a type of magic that while still used today, has been so limited by the minds of the users that it's nothing but a one-trick wonder.'

The top part read— something she couldn't help but agree with from all she saw in the movies. Along with how limited knowledge about both was in the shop and everywhere else she had been so far.

'What if these two things are not actually different? What if one can be used hand in hand with the other to truly bring out the potential of both? Magic that could be truly wonderful. That is the purpose of my research.'

Read the bottom part, where it ended with a short explanation about reading the book, and some warnings that it was for purely research purposes and not to try it in an unsafe environment.

Well, for her it was much more than just a book about research.

It was a boon, a massive and beneficial boon that she had stumbled upon while merely scouting the books of the bookstore.

She couldn't wait to read it— no, she could not wait to use the information in it to further develop her capabilities beyond anything she had done so far.

Maybe it will finally allow her to make entities of her darkness that could move around with life and interact with the world of solid matter.

She was excited, but she had to wait, at least until she bought the book.

Or rather, until she gets Albus to buy it for her.

But she couldn't exactly buy this one book, that would make the book stand out and get Albus interested in it. She didn't want that, so she had to find a way around that.

The solution she came up with for that was easy, just buy multiple books.

She was in a bookstore after all, and Albus was fine with buying her study material, so all she had to do was tell him she was interested in learning about them.

So with that idea in mind, she browsed the store further, picking out a few interesting books but nothing that really stood out.

She picked out another theory book, a book about magical creatures, a history book about magic and the magical community, along with a book about Hogwarts.

With those books in hand— now numbering 5— she walked over to Albus and looked up at him.

"Can I have these? They are all so interesting to read, I can't pick one out of them."

She said with a smile— looking up at him with eager eyes.

It seemed Albus had a weakness for those eager eyes, or maybe he was just nice because he decided to indulge her and buy the books as she asked.

Buying all 5 after giving each a glance to make sure they weren't anything bad for a kid as young as her— which they weren't.

With that done with, the pair decided to head home for the day as it was starting to get dark, and she was excited to read through the book now.

Albus used the teleporting spell once more— teleporting them back home.

Once home he allowed her to go to her room and do whatever she wanted, saying he would be in his office if she needed him.

With that over with— she had a few days free now to do whatever she wanted with the books and in her room.

Sorry for the delay in a chapter this week, I'm working on an original story that I had the sudden motivation for and have a lot of ideas to work with, as such I've been pouring some time into writing it, with 7 chapters done for it. It's not published yet though, I don't know if I will publish it here.
