Detention

An explosion sounded near the back of the class.

Hermione, Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, Harry, and Ron were all the closest.

"Who did this?" Snape asked.

"It was her!" Crabbe and Giyle cried pointing at Hermione at the same time Harry and Ron cries, "It was him," and pointed to Malfoy.

Snape gave a weird smile, "Detention. Both of you. Tonight. Be here by six. You will clean the castle by hand. All the classrooms, bathrooms and reorganize the potions cupboard."

"What?" Hermione and Draco cried.

"Professor!" Hermione said, "Isn't that bit extreme? I mean it was just a small explosion and we didn't do it. It was Crabbe and Goyle."

"Do not question me Miss Granger. Just because I do in fact owe you my life, doesn't mean I will let you off the hook when you make mistakes like this." Snape said, "I expect you and Mr. Malfoy here by six. Class dismissed!"

Snape watched his two favorite students throw each other a death glare.

"See you tonight Granger," Malfoy said.

"Whatever," Hermione responded.

"Oh yes," Snape said as they left the classroom, "Minerva and I will soon be rich."

"Finally," Hermione gasped as she placed the last bottle of spider legs on the shelf under 'S', "We're done!"

Malfoy sighed, "I bloody hate Snape. Siriusly, we didn't even do it yet we LANs the punishment!"

Hermione rolled her eyes and motioned him for her to follow with the rest of the brooms and mops. Malfoy reluctantly followed her to the supply closet outside the dungeons.

Inside they closed the door and began to put everything away. Malfoy was just finishing balancing brooms when there was a loud click from the door.

"Malfoy...." Hermione whispered, "Did someone just lock the door?"

"Muffliato," A voice said from the other side.

"Bloody hell!" Malfoy said and tried to open the door, "Great. We're stuck. Someone locked it. Of course we don't have our bloody wands! You could get us out in a second!"

"Was that a compliment, ferret?" Hermione asked with a raised eyebrow.

"If you want it to be," he responded sitting down next to her.

Hermione shifted away a bit to distance them against the wall. There was only half a wall that didn't have shelves or brooms agasint it and the two fit perfectly with less than a foot between them.

"I won't bite," Malfoy said with his eyes closed and head leaning back, "Well, maybe." He joked.

Hermione rolled her eyes, "I wouldn't out it past you to."

Malfoy opened his eyes and feigned hurt, "Granger, how dare you say that? Am I really just an abusive Slytherin in your eyes?"

"No." She stated, "You're an arrogant, self-absorbed ferret who cares about nothing but how many girls he can get."

"That was low," Malfoy said turning his head to face her.

Hermione scoffed, "I know. It was meant to be."

Malfoy shook his head slightly amused. The two sat in silence before Malfoy looked over at Hermione. He watched her small figure curled up in a very uncomfortable position as she slept softly.

Without thinking, Malfoy reached out for her and pulled her next to him, resting her head on his chest and wrapping an arm around her shoulders protectively.

"If only you knew," he whispered before letting slumber come to him.

Hermione woke the next morning, or what she assumed to be morning as their were no windows for her to tell the time, to find herself lying next to someone. Based off the muscular arms around her waist, she assumed it was a boy. But she hasn't been with anyone last night. Except Malfoy.

Her eyes widened as she tilted her head down to where his head was resting agasint her chest. It was indeed Malfoy. No one could mistake that sliver blonde hair. She watched him for awhile, admiring his hair. It was combed back like it normally was and stuck out all over. She secretly admitted that she liked his hair this way.

Malfoy groaned and opened his eyes. He looked up slightly after realizing his arms were around someone.

"Morning," Hermione said softly.

Malfoy groaned again and out his back, pulling Hermione closer to him, "Five more minutes." He said.

"Sleep as long as you'd like," Hermione sighed, "If you forgot, we're trapped in this closet.

At this Malfoy opened his eyes, fully awake, "What? Oh, right."

Hermione nodded and noticed that he hasn't let go of her or even loosened his grip. Instead he shuffled his body up so they were looking each other in the eye.

"You can let go of me you know," Hermione said smugly, motioning Draco's arms still wrapped around her waist.

"I would," Malfoy said, "But this is just to comfortable," he finished pulling her closer so their faces were inches apart.

Hermione blushed slightly and looked away from him.

"What are you doing Malfoy?" Hermione asked calmly.

"I'm bored and like seeing you angry and uncomfortable, so that's what I shall do," He stated bringing his face closer to hers.

Hermione shuddered slightly at his breath hitting her face and looked him in the eyes, "I'm not getting angry. I'm not giving you the satisfaction."

"Alright then," Malfoy said, "Why don't we play a game?"

"What game?"

"Hmmm, let's find your secrets shall we? How about twenty questions."

"Fine."

Malfoy smirked, "Why does Snape owe you his life?"

"He was attacked by Nagini under Voldemort's orders. When harry and Ron left him I stayed and gave him a potion I had made when nagini bit harry. It cured him and he lived." She explained.

"Interesting," Malfoy said.

"My turn. Why did you join them?" Hermione asked after a seconds hesitation.

Malfoy closed his eyes and brought Hermione a bit closer than before, now so close the faces were practically touching.

"I was threatened," he whispered, "They'd kill her if I didn't."

"Who's her?"

Malfoy opened his eyes and looked at Hermione, letting his blank face fall and all his mental and emotional wards to disappear, "You," he finally said.

Hermione's eyes widened, "Why?"

"Because," Malfoy whispered, "They wanted me to join and the only way to do that was by threatening to kill the only person I have ever loved. That I still love."

Realization passed through Hermione's eyes along with surprise and anger before they were filled with fear, guilt, and sorrow.

"Oh," she said.

Malfoy closed his eyes and let a tear fall.

"Draco," Hermione breathed, "Kiss me."

Malfoy didn't open his eyes, just placed his lips on hers in a gentle way. He kissed her as softly as possible but also as though his life depended on it. He had been waiting for this moment since third year and it had finally come.

Hermione kissed him back, surprised by how soft and warm his lips were. She kissed him with all she had and allowed herself to place her arms around his neck in attempt to pull him closer.

The two broke apart when the door burst open and Snape and McGonagall walked in.

"Told you Minerva, we are going to be rich!" Snape cried.

"Oh yes! I have been waiting for this since they met. It only took them what? Seven years?" McGonagall asked grinning.

"Er- uh hello Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, I swear this isn't what it looks like," Hermione said jumping to her feet.

"But it is!" Snape cheered.

"It is! It is!" McGonagall said, "You two kissed! We are now rich! Hahaha, come on Severus its time to collect our winnings."

And with that the two teachers walked out with large smiles on their faces, ready to earn some money.

"What just happened?" Hermione asked as Malfoy stood up and wrapped his arms around her again.

"They were betting money on whether we'd get together or not," Malfoy stated.

Hermione rolled her eyes at him.

"Hermione," Draco started, "I love you."

Hermione smiled, "Good. I'd tell you I love you too, but Merlin knows your ego is big enough!"

Draco smiled at her before kissing her once more, neither noticed a young boy who looked much like his brother that had passed during the war, take s picture of before their embrace, smiling as though they were the only two people in the world.

Needless to say, Dennis Creevey made lots of bets on whether or not Malfoy and Hermione would get together and he became a very wealthful boy.
