Chapter 172

Lena and Kara don't leave right away. For one it's because they don't want everyone to think they want to sneak off to make love for the first time as wife and wife. While that may be true, they do want that, they also want to get away from the crowd. But Kara and Lena know that they can't get away with it for a bit, especially since they have to leave for their honeymoon, so they stay where they are and dance with their friends.

After the parent dances, everyone moves to the dance floor, and Lena and Kara are joined by their friends and family. The band goes from the slow song they had been playing for the parents dances to a more upbeat one that has a nice rhythm and tempo that everyone can dance to. Maggie laughs as she spins Alex in their group, beaming at her wife who's beaming right back at her.

Lena and Kara continue to mostly dance together and keep near each other. The new wives do break apart when Alex holds her hand out for Lena while Maggie holds hers out for Kara. They comply with a grin and dance with their sister-in-laws.

After a couple of hours of dancing and even more eating, with Alex and Maggie's nudging, Kara and Lena make their exit. A crowd of people follow behind them as they exit the castle, where a carriage is waiting. Among the crowd with Lena and Kara are Jeremiah, J'onn, and Eliza. They emerge with soft smiles that are almost wistful as they take in the women who are now wives.

"We're proud of you," Eliza says ass she wraps them both in a warm hug. "I love you both." She pulls back, allowing Jeremiah to hug them next.

"Have fun," he murmurs to them. "When you get back we can worry about the political stuff, but use your honeymoon to relax. You've earned it." He presses a kiss to both of their heads before pulling back.

J'onn hugs them next, a feeling that used to be odd. J'onn isn't much of a hugging person, or at least he wasn't until he ended up adopting so many people into his family. Now, instead of them feeling stiff and not forced but awkward, they're warm and gentle.

"Don't worry about ruling or being heroes. We've got you covered. I love you," he says gruffly after a pause. "Now go have fun." He pulls back.

After more hugs from their friends and family, Kara and Lena are teary-eyed and ready to get into the carriage.

"Wait!" Maggie says, and grabs the bouquets that a guard has been holding for them. "Don't forget about these!"

She tosses the bouquets to Lena and Kara, who easily catch them. They grin and turn around, hearing the shuffling of people trying to get closer so they can have the bouquet.

"One, two, three!" Lena whispers, and on three they launch their bouquets.

They can hear scrambling of people trying to reach for it as they turn around. Lucy's holding one, looking smug and looking to a blushing James.

"I guess you'll have to find out if I'll propose soon," she says.

"I can't wait," James laughs, his eyes sparkling with happiness.

Kara knows that he's been wanting to marry her for a while, but he knows that he has to wait for her to be ready. So they had talked and agreed that Lucy will propose when she's ready.

Lena looks over to see where the other one went and she stifles laughter when she sees a bewildered looking Winn holding a bouquet. He looks over to Lyra, who has a catlike grin on her face.

"You'll just have to find out, darling." Lyra winks at him, her grin widening when his cheeks turn a faint pink as he smiles goofily back.

Kara squeezes her wife's hand and they make eye contact. Their friends' and families' attention refocuses on them and they newly married couple waves goodbye to them with warm smiles on their faces. Lena and Kara step into the carriage and look back out at them all waving goodbye.

Kara squeezes Lena's hand again and rests her head on Lena's shoulder as the carriage jolts into motion. There's the soft rhythmic clip-clop of hooves hitting cobblestone as the carriage begins to pull away. Kara and Lena keep their eyes on their friends and family, continuing to wave back until they're out of sight behind the castle gate.

Kara slumps against Lena and lets out a soft sigh, looking up at her wife. "Hey Lee. You're my wife."

Lena laughs softly and pecks Kara's lips. "I am. And you're my wife."

Kara's smile grows until she's beaming. She leans in and presses her lips to her wife's. Lena kisses her back slowly, pouring all the love and happiness she feels into it. When Lena pulls back, Kara has a glazed expression and a slack jaw for a moment before she gets her bearings and leans back in for a quick peck.

"I want to look out into the city while we're still in National City," Kara explains. "We can make out once we get outside the walls."

Lena chuckles and nods, resting her head on Kara's shoulders and looking out into the streets. The people on the street look at the carriage curiously, because carriages aren't often seen in National City. Especially one this fancy with the royal symbols of the Danvers Kingdom and the Luthor Kingdom on it. Most that look at the carriage with inquisitive gazes figure out what it is and who's in it, since everyone in National City and probably beyond knows that Kara and Lena's wedding is today. They get excited people waving to them and they wave back, even though the windows to the carriage are one-sided so they can't see into it.

"I can't wait to get to the cabin." Lena murmurs to her wife, a soft smile on her face.

They're heading to where Maggie and Alex had their honeymoon! Don't worry, it's been thoroughly cleaned since then ;) And dang, it's been a while since I wrote for this book! Sorry about that, I've been trying to be better but this semester is just kicking my butt! Thank you for your patience and for reading! Thanks for your lovely comments! Stay awesome!
