Kara remained curled up by Lena's head on one of the pillows, eyes trained on the brunette's face and ears ready to pick up any sort of movement coming from Lena. Lena had been unconscious for about 10 minutes now, and it was giving Kara anxiety.
Lena's breathing seemed to pick up, causing Kara to lift her ears before grumbling when Lena settled down again.
Kara felt her eyes water a bit. She didn't like seeing Lena hurt; she hated it. A part of her really hated it.
The unconscious brunette had been moved to an apartment on the 7th floor with Alex and the other four coming after them. The one named Crow was posted outside the door, and Kara could occasionally hear them fidget with their weapon.
Kara glanced around the room, noting that it had no windows to see the outside. There was only a large metal cabinet in the corner, and a couple of chairs pressed up against the wall. Pretty barren, to say the least.
Kara could hear Alex and Boss voices distinctly, but it was hard to listen to them clearly through the closed door.
----------------------------------
"I told them to wait in the lobby until I give any new orders and to let the doctor through," Alex said, lowering her left hand slowly. Blue kept their eyes on the FBI agent, weapon in hand.
The rest were spread out across the apartment, minus the ones called Raven and Eagle.
"Wonderful," Boss muttered, pacing a bit in the new living room.
"Who are you? I've never seen that type of uniform." Alex gestured towards the purple square on Boss's uniform.
"You wouldn't have." Boss went quiet for a few seconds. "We are Ms. Luthor's security," Boss drawled, "we have dealt with FBI Agents who were...belligerent, to say the least. False evidence, assumptions, and utter biases made us cautious."
"Oh."
They all heard a slight vibration. Boss reached into one of the inner pockets of their uniform and pulled out their phone.
Boss looked at their phone and sighed, accepted the call, and bringing the phone up to the left side of their masked face, "Hi, J...Falcon?...yes, it's true...She's unconscious, but she's likely to wake up soon...No, she's alright as well; she's with her....I have a medic en route, don't worry...Yes, her...A backup plan? Maybe, I'll let you know....Will give you updates...alright, bye." Boss lowered their phone and placed it back into one of the pockets.
"Superior?" Alex hesitantly asked. She was curious now.
"In a way."
They all turned towards the door when they heard a knock. Boss walked over and opened the door to see a tall, brown-haired woman waiting, a satchel in hand.
"Boss," the woman smiled at the masked face, causing Boss to sigh and open the door wider to let the woman through and closed the door behind her. If the woman was surprised by a gun being aimed at Alex, she showed nothing as she followed Boss.
"Doctor, a pleasure to see you again despite the circumstances," Boss led the Doctor through the long hallway to the room where the younger Luthor was resting.
"Likewise, Boss. What is her state?" The doctor asked.
"Ms. Luthor is unconscious with a bump on her head. We concluded that her head must've bounced off the floor harshly. There's no external bleeding."
"I see," they both stopped in front of the room where Crow stood guard. Crow gave a quick bow before opening the door for the both of them to enter.
"Thank you, Crow," the doctor said, making Crow tilt their head in disbelief. Crow just gave a nod.
-----------------------------
Kara perked her head up as she heard footsteps reaching Lena's room. Kara wondered, remaining still as the door opened and Boss and another woman entered the room.
"Is the cabinet fully stocked?" The woman asked, dropping her satchel by the end of the bed.
"Yes. And the other 5 in the building and those in the other buildings. J made sure to order sufficient supplies for them."
"She is efficient," the brunette made her way over to the cabinet and opened the two doors, allowing Kara to see the numerous amounts of medical equipment. Boxes of bandaids, gauze, slings, and other supplies Kara had not seen before.
"She is one of the best," Boss made their way to the upper half of the bed where Kara was resting on the pillow. "Would you like me to move Kara, Doctor?"
The brunette glanced towards the puppy, and Kara held her stare. ' Kara grumbled, shooting Boss a look.
"Oh, she has a puppy now?" the doctor asked, pulling out a box of unopened gloves.
"It's a recent development."
"That's wonderful! I'm certain it brought Ms. Luthor some joy," the doctor smiled a bit to herself, putting on gloves.
"According to J, yes, she has. Would you like me to move her?" Boss inquired, getting closer to Kara, who let out a small growl. Kara bared her teeth at the gloved hands.
"She could be by the end of the bed; I just need to be able to reach Ms. Luthor's head."
Kara stood up from her perch, made her way down the bed, and curled up near Lena's covered legs, still facing the brunette. Kara grumbles.
"Smart puppy," the woman commented.
Kara watched closely as the Doctor overlooked Lena's head, carefully pressing around to feel.
"We are going to need to wait until she wakes up," the doctor concluded.
Kara huffed. Kara whined. She hated seeing people she cared about getting hurt, and the worry she was feeling was starting to make her even more paranoid that Lena wouldn't wake up again.
"Any idea of when she could wake up?" Boss inquired.
"No, but I can stay here and monitor her." The woman took one of the chairs resting along the wall and placed it next to Lena's bed.
Boss stiffened and placed a hand to their earpiece, "I'll be right there...I will be back in a bit, Doctor."
With that, Boss exited the room. Kara watched them go for a few seconds before lowering her head to the bed, keeping her eyes on Lena.
----------------------------------
"What do we have?" Boss asked once they passed by the knocked-down door. They made their way further into the penthouse, gazing at the motionless body. Raven and Eagle had lined up the intruders' clothes and weapons and other items they had been carrying. A couple of kits were open along the floor.
