“Coming to the museum was a complete waste of time. I’m going to have to check out the school library later on.”
Kelvin still had some time on his hands, and he was pondering on what to do next.
“Hmm, Ray said something about a weapon shop; I’m curious to see what kind of items they have on sale.” So, with that in mind, Kelvin asked for the direction of the nearest weapon shop.
The closest weapon shop was called the “weapon smiting cottage”, and it was run by an old retired demon hunter.
Kelvin was able to locate the weapon shop, and just as its name implies, the weapon smiting cottage, was a small single storey building. Kelvin walked inside the weapon shop, and saw a variety of weapons, training guild books, and other items and artifacts.
He walked up to the shop keeper, behind the counter. The shop keeper was a plump old man, with an eye patch across the eye.
“Welcome; how may I help you kid?” The shop keeper asked in a deep coarse voice.
“Good day sir; I just want to check out some weapons.” Kelvin replied.
“Well, go ahead; take a pick.”
Kelvin decided to check out the swords, because that was his primary weapon; even though he lacked skills in sword combat. The swords on display ranged from, dual swords, single swords, and the large sword type. There were also different katana on display too.
After looking at the swords for a while, Kelvin decided not to purchase a sword.
‘Now that I think about it, I don’t really need a new sword. Instead, what I should be looking for is a secondary weapon that I can use to support my current sword.’ So, Kelvin asked,
“Sir is there any kind of weapon I can use to support a sword?”
“Hmm, give me a minute, let me check.”
The shopkeeper went into the store room, and after a few seconds of searching, he came out holding a sturdy iron shield.
“What about this?” The shopkeeper asked.
“I think that might be a little too heavy for me.” Kelvin answered.
“Well, there’s no other weapon that can support a sword; except a gun. But it won’t be loaded. We have an order against selling loaded guns to students.”
“I don’t want a gun. It’s not really my style.”
They shopkeeper thought for a while and said:
“Okay, I’ll get you a weapon by the end of the week; so come back then. Also bring loads of points with you because it’s not going to be cheap.”
“Okay, thank you sir.”
“Just call me Ruckus.”
“Okay, bye uncle Ruckus. I’ll see you at the end of the week.” Kelvin said, as he left the shop.
“Hmm, such a nice kid; I wonder what he has to hide though.” Ruckus said, as he went back to work.
With nothing left to do, Kelvin went back to the academy.
The academy haven’t really introduced a curfew time to the first year students yet. Kelvin was sure they would; so he felt it was best t get used to the time adjustments now, so that it will be easier for later on.
Kelvin entered his dorm room, and crashed onto the bed face first. He stayed like that for a few minutes, before standing up sluggishly, to remove his uniform.
He entered the bathroom to take a quick shower before having a nice power nap.
He looked at the mirror installed in the bathroom, and like any normal mirror, his reflection stared back at him. It stayed that way for some time, before gradually morphing into his real face, but with a creepy smile.
To be honest, Kelvin wasn’t scared of the reflection change. It had happened too often, so it just seemed like an old trick to him.
He came closer to the mirror, and tilted his head to the side. His reflection followed. He tilted to the other side, and his reflection did the same. Kelvin then locked into a staring contest with the reflection.
After a minute of staring, the reflection said:
“What is it stupid human?! It seems you’re not scared of me anymore.”
Hearing those words from his reflection scared the crap out of Kelvin. Without a minute of hesitation, he stormed out of the bathroom, and locked the door.
“What the hell was that?” Kelvin asked himself, while backing away from the toilet door.
“There’s no doubt; that was the demon. But how did it talk through my reflection?”
“There’s no point running away; the damn demon is inside me. I just have to calm down.” Kelvin said, after a painful realization.
He took deep breaths and tried as much as possible to forget the voice of the demon. Kelvin eventually calmed down, but the fear was still quite visible on his face. He grabbed a cloth from the closet, opened the bathroom door, and without looking, Kelvin closed the mirror using the cloth.
After that, Kelvin was just about to take his power nap, when he heard a knock from the door. Opening the door, Kelvin was greeted by Carl’s annoyingly loud voice.
“Kelvin; put some clothes on, because I found the best hangout spot!!”
“Dude, keep it down; you’re not supposed to call me by my real name.” Kelvin said, trying to quite down his loud friend.
“Sorry about that.” Carl said.
“So what do you mean by hangout spot?” Kelvin asked.
“Enough with the questions; come on lets go.”
Kelvin went back in and after a while, he came back wearing a casual cloth.
“How was the movie?” Kelvin asked, as they left the dorm building.
“It was awesome. You really missed out.” Carl replied.
“Ray also got his new arrows; he went to the training section to test it out. Let’s go get him.”
The training section was behind the main academic building, and the student dorms. There was a paved pathway in the middle that leads to the opened gates of the training section.
