It was Sunday morning of that weekend and Charlotte had already left for her usual "Yachtcation" for the weekend, and Liam was in bed.
"ZZzzrr! ZZZzzzrr!" Liam's phone alarm rung next to his head on the bed and he woke up with a deep breath and a yawn covering the most of his face. While he slowly sat up, he used his right hand and his fingers to run through his brown hair trying to decide what plans he had for the day.
With another wide yawn escaping his mouth, he looked towards his shoe rack which was by the other end of the wall and his eyes met with his running sneakers.
"A run might not be a bad idea, you know?" He said to himself with one eye brow raised as he removed the cover cloth he had wrapped himself in.
He got up from his bed, and then sat down at the edge again, and for some reason, he was feeling very happy this morning with a smile complementing his face.
"Hey, Siri. Play some high spirits music for us this morning, will you?" Liam said as he got up from the bed and advanced towards the wardrobe where he'd put his clothes.
After changing into a thin layered t-shirt and a brown short which was so tight that his thighs barely had enough room to breathe, he laced his sneakers and plugged his Apple Airpods into his ears as he left the house.
"So, where are we jogging to, man?" Liam asked himself as he stood by the Bull's Dome entrance looking towards all the sides of the road.
In a split second, he decided he was going to jog to the park that wasn't too far away from here, and he started his exercise with Ariana Grande's pop song giving him all the much needed vibe and support he needed.
Upon getting to the Park, he panted with his hands on both sides of his waist and his head towards the ground. He was sweating profusely with exhaustion, but he had to see this through and he already knew that he was headed home from here.
As he stretched his right hand towards his back pocket in search of his face towel, he couldn't find it. He got up to his feet fully and turned his head towards his waist, but it wasn't there. He realised that he'd forgotten it at home, so he sighed deeply.
"Here." A lady who'd also stopped not so far behind him said as she offered him a face towel.
Liam turned his back to the person offering him hers with a soft voice which had pants and fast breathing in it, too.
"Thank you." Liam said as he collected it from her with a warm smile while she checked out most parts of his body except his face which was slightly above her sight.
Liam paused the music from his Airpods in order to hear her more audibly as she spoke.
"You jog by here often?" She finally said looking at his face with a smile of an innocent baby.
"No, actually. I just thought I'd do this today. Do you jog by here a lot?" Liam asked in return with more curiosity forming on his face which he'd just wiped with the face towel.
"Yeah, I do. I'm into Sports at NYU." She said while she nodded her head.
"NYU? Isn't that like far from here? You jog all the way?" Liam asked with every bit of him itching for an answer.
"Relax. I'm not some Greek Olympian. No. I don't stay on campus. My place is not too far from here, so it's just that." She said with a little laugh escaping her lusciously carved lips which Liam noticed but refused to pay much attention to.
"Ohh. That's good. I'm not too far from here either." Liam said with unidentifiable intention.
"If that's you asking me over to your place, then you have a lot of furnishing to do to your game." She said with a teasing smile.
"Oh, God. No. I wasn't trying to do that." Liam said with an embarrassing face that caused them both to laugh.
"If you're not in NYU, then where do you go to?" She asked him before pressing her upper teeth on her lower lip in a flirty manner.
"I'm a Stanford product." Liam said with modesty that caused her to scoff.
"What? You went to Stanford and you're not screaming about that? That's something. I'm Pearl by the way, and if you must know, my mum named me that because that was all she had of her mother's inheritance before she was kicked out of the family for teen pregnancy." Pearl uttered without caution as Liam stared at her wondering how to take all of that info in.
"Whoa! That's a lot. You always say this much to strangers or Stanford people only?" Liam said with humour that made her chuckle from one ear to the other.
"Very funny. You always say this little on the first date?" Pearl replied quickly catching Liam off-guard.
"I didn't know this was a date. I'd have upped my game a little." Liam said awkwardly.
"Relax. I'm just messing with you." Pearl said before bursting into laughter while pointing at Liam's clueless face.
"I don't know about you, but I'm ready to get out of here to go grab some doughnuts and a cold soda. You coming?" Pearl said as she walked away hoping he'd catch up with her.
"Yeah, sure. It's Liam." Liam said as he trekked next to her.
"What? I wouldn't have guessed that , you know… you look more like a Jake or Justin, cos I mean the jaw, the looks and that killer gaze? Damn, Liam." Pearl said in a rush that made Liam laugh out slightly embarrassed.
Pearl kept talking all the way to the doughnut truck which was not too far from the park and all that the absent-minded Liam had to respond with after every sentence of hers was an affirmative nod or a throat buzz.
"So, should I fuck him or not?" Pearl stopped talking and faced Liam as she asked.
"Mmmmmhm." Liam said, as he hadn't been following a word of hers since he'd fixed his gaze on the doughnut truck.
"I'm just messing with you. Keep up, Liam. Can we have two Glazed doughnuts and two sodas, please?" Pearl said as she moved closer to the man by the doughnut truck.
"Sorry. Can you make mine a coke, please?" Liam said quickly to the man in the truck.
"Sure." The doughnut man replied.
While Liam was paying for both of their orders, a car parked not too far away from here was hooting rhythmically and this was garnering attention and Liam looked towards the car which appeared to be full of university students that didn't look different than performers in a college rock band.
"Ohh, shit. That's my ride, Liam. It was nice meeting you." Pearl said as she ran off with her order and towards the car where a great amount of noise was coming from.
"Yeah. It was nice meeting you, too, Pearl…" Liam said to the departed Pearl as he smiled before dipping his doughnuts into his mouth.
